Nice optic for the rest money.

I was undecided between the PA 1-6x scope or this model by Vortex. Went with this one mainly because of the warranty. Eye relief could be a bit more but it's not terrible. The reticle takes some getting used to but I really like the horizontal and vertical lines that help draw my eye directly to the center. The PA 1-6 doesn't have this. The illumination option is nice for low light conditions but is washed out in bright daylight. The hash marks on the center of the reticle are designed for 223/5.56 bullet drop at each additional 100 yards provided you already know what range your target is as there is no range estimator built in like the PA version. In all its decent carbine scope that has an outstanding warranty but doesn't cost an arm and a half.

Awesome scope!

I love this scope! Perfect for me for the 100 yard shot - clear glass and rapid focus to see .223 rounds punch paper at that yardage. I haven't tried it out past that yet, but in any tactical or hunting scenario at that distance I'll be switching up to .308 anyway, with another equally great scope from Vortex.
For me, the magnification ring is tight, stiff, but with a little bit improvement with use. I'm sure the assistance device that Vortex sells would be a useful item; required equipment for any military or LEO usage and environment. And of course, PA will have the best pricing and delivery around - hands down!

Quick Scope for 3 Gun

Don't let the price fool you this a great scope with excellent glass and light transmission .. Also has good battery life

Not worth the price

PA is top notch! Great company best shipping ever! Now the scope. Bought the Strike Eagle based on reviews and recommendations.
The good: 1-fit and finish is perfect, 2-can't beat the warranty, 3-I really like the retical
The bad: 1-not a true 1x, 2-elevation and windage adjustments are near impossible to hear or feel, not positive at all, 3-any illumination settings above 6 shades the whole image with a reddish tint
The ugly: 1-glass is horrible, 2-edge is distorted, 3-bad fish eye
Final thoughts: I own cheaper optics that are much, much better than this unit. If you want the best warranty available then this is for you. If not, get something else.

Great AR Optic

by

I work at a large national outdoor store and the StrikeEagle is the best AR scope for the money out there. The glass is very good you've got an illuminated BDC reticle and 1-6x range. It's fantastic. Can you buy better scopes out there? Of course but it's gonna be $1000 or more. I like the StrikeEagle better than the Vortex Viper 1-4x.

Wise choice

I cannot say anything negative about this scope. Let me say the gripes you read about in other reviews are not valid for an optic at this price point. You receive way above average for what you pay for in the strike eagle. These are just the facts in case anyone is interested. Solid you can tell this thing is well built. You can feel every click on the adjustment knobs and I found it to track true. As a comparison I can say that the Burris mtac is a little more clear to me but it also costs a little more and one with the new ballistic at reticle has proven impossible for me to find. The mtac is also a 1-4x so if you want 1-6x than the strike eagle is great. Bottom line is this thing is well worth the$ and it can be trusted to perform. Very solid.

Just OK.

I guess I expected more from Vortex. Eye relief at 1x is decent but it's picky at 6x. I have a hard time finding the right focus either the reticle is blurry or the target is blurry so I feel like I'm always fighting the scope to get a clear sight picture. This is probably the cheapest scope I've bought so I don't know if these issues are a "get what you pay for" thing or what. If I could do it over I would probably look elsewhere but I give it 3 stars for a true 1X mag illuminated reticle and budget friendly price. My AR is just a toy anyway so whatever.

I'm not sure why someone wouldn't like this scope unless something was wrong when they got it. The glass is great and very clear with no distortion or fish eye. I looked through a lot of different scopes in this class and none of them were a true 1x or capable of being shot both eyes open like the Strike Eagle or Viper PST. They honestly made me dizzy and half half sick. The Strike eagle is sold well built and easy to use and you can not beat the Vortex Warranty. Go ahead and buy a more expensive scope that maybe has better parts and internals but if the glass sucks it's totally useless. I plan on buying more Strike Eagles and Vortex products in the future.

Ok for the money

by

I must say I read many a rave review on this scope but I just don't see it. Glass is not the best. Lots of fish eye. I was not impressed looking through it for the first time. Reticle is pretty nice though. It's definitely not a both eyes open optic as I've read. At least not for me. If you aren't used to decent glass and it's all you can afford it's not bad. I Think I'll sell it and pay a little more for another Leupold. Can't return it because I installed the battery and mocked it up in the mount. Otherwise it'd be on it's way back tomorrow. Just my opinion.

Had what I want

I purchase the 1-6 for these old eyes of mine. I am able to reach out to further distances with no problems. On an AR-15 5.56 Colt it will just suit my needs fine. The glass is clear and the power adjustment ring is not tight like a lot of reviews talk about. Like the simplicity of the reticle illumination is bright and not washed out, well worth the price.Vortex Lifetime no questions asked can not go wrong there.
