Good black color to an even finish. Well machined. Great buy.
Out of spec, had to return it.

Primary Arms customer service is awesome, as soon as I reported a problem with my upper, they had a return authorization ready for me. This upper looked great, unfortunately was a little out of spec, a barrel that fit in other receivers wouldn't seat in this one, way too tight.
<br>5 stars for P.A. customer service, 3 stars for the receiver. I split the difference.
I Was Shocked!

Who the heck is 17 Design??? I wasn't expecting much but this thing is pretty nice. There is one forging flaw in it but the rest is very clean. There are some machining marks by the port door but it looks intentional and very cool. If I had to knock it one one thing it would be that there is an air gap between the upper and its matching lower. That said, it is a perfectly measured consistent gap and not an ugly mess.
Great stripped upper

Fit and finish are flawless. For the price it can’t be beat.

good finish and fit fits all my lowers nice and snug bought this over black friday for less than 40.00
A good buy.

The 17 Design upper looked great, and had a very tight fit with my barrel. The small issues I’ve found were in pin diameters being on the smaller end. The rear takedown pin needed some material removed before the pin would fit,but was easily done with a file. Once assembled, there is no slop at all between the upper and lower. The forward assist pin hole was very tight as well. Overall, the finish was very good ,and tight pins are better than loose pins, but be aware that you may need to do some fitting with this upper.
Best for the money

I have assembled many an upper receiver and purchased two of the uppers on Black Friday because they looked to be a great deal for my next project(s), boy was I wrong! Neither of these uppers would allow the forward assist assembly to be installed without putting the plunger in a bind/frozen in place. I tried multiple plungers from different manufactures with the same result, even my punch that easy slipped through with no plunger in place had to be driven back out due to it binding against the plunger when driving the roll pin back out. PA is a great company with a great reputation but 17 Design appears to market POS products that I now have ZERO faith in and will not purchase this companies (17 Design) products in the future. Only gave 1 star because 'No Stars' is not an option.

Forward assist issue
by James -
The upper was not machined correctly. The forward assist roll pin hole is approximately .030" off from mill spec. Mill spec calls for the roll pin hole to .650" from center of hole to the back of the forward assist orifice. Measurements taken on the upper receiver I received indicated that the outer diameter of the roll pin hole is .650" instead of the center of the hole as indicated by mill spec which moves the hole forward approximately .030". The improper location of the roll pin hole is enough to impede proper installation of the forward assist. I ruined my brand new forward assist in the process. Had to send this back for a refund.
