What an awesome rail / upgrade!!!

by -

Wow I have read all the reviews online - so few. However they were all negative or less than pleased. Well, I have been purring AK patterns together for a while and was please at how easy an installation this was. A little Dremel work and dry fitting and boom! It went together solid and sturdy. I hope to take it to the range and try it out but so far I am happy about the fit, feel, installation and sturdiness of the rail. I got the long one and threw on a bunch of mlok rails for lights, hand stip, sling and anything else. The handguard looks like it will stay cool because it floats the barrel and no metal touches but the original sling attachment but I have a work around to fix that. Now if you have not put a few AK patterns, rails or other large upgrades on an AK patterns together this upgrade can be a daunting task but if you take it slow, dry fit and force nothing on, this can be a very pleasant and easy upgrade to do. I highly recommend this upgrade.

Not so fast my friend ...

Not at all impressed with this particular hand rail... it’s built fine but the lack of good directions (in essence not good for a beginner) even my FFL dealer who’s been doing repairs for over 43 years stated the directions were awful and the customer support is nothing to brag about either as they take forever and a week to get back to
You and when they do they don’t have a clue on getting a good install.. YIKES.... buyer beware and purchase at your own risk - seriously

requires machining to fit. works well after

This product looks great out of the box, but be wary of fitment issues. The barrel clamp was too small and had to be bored out, a d the handguard itself was SLIGHTLY too long to fit between the for and aft sight posts. 50 bucks at a shop and it fits and looks great! It feels good in your hands as it is, but adding grips is easy with the m-lok system. I love the handguard after outting hundreds of rounds down with it, but cant give it more than 3 stars because it simply requires extra work to fit right. If it fit right out of the box, would easily give it 5 stars! Love it so far.

This handguard uses a barrel clamp to stay secured on, which is too small for the standard russian barrels. Next, the upper handguard is JUST too long to fit between the front and rear sight posts.
Once you bore out the barel clamp, and shave a tiny bit off the front of the upper handguard, the entire system will work great! The accessory availability from the m-lok is amazing, and the handguard does feel good in your hands when firing. I mounted a reflex sight at the back of the rail and had no problems when at the range. Already put 200 rounds through and it feels great.
It really is a great handguard once it fits properly, but do be warned that you must do a small amount of work to get it right. Cost you 50 bucks at a gunsmith, no problem, but this is why i give it 3 stars as it is when you buy it.
