appear to be very solid, goode quality.
Armalite Barrel Nut
As far as appearance and machining specs go, this is your garden variety barrel nut at 2X cost of most others. Maybe it's special? One of those deals where the quality of treatment by Primary Arms exceeds going elsewhere. For me, anyway - Very pleased!

EDIT: After some fitting my VTAC rail did slip over this nut. It was very tight, but the finish fit is great. As other have stated this nut is tight and requires filing to fit. I could not get this nut fit my VTAC rail. Thought for the price this was a quality piece.

Even buying the smallest item, the staff are always there to assist. The gentlemen that is usually on the sales floor is always helpful and is friendly. Makes you feel welcome every time you're there. He may be caught up with a few customers there from time to time but he will find the time to help you when he can. Great product with great prices!

Good but not Great

Good: The teeth lined up almost perfectly with the gas tube hole in the upper at 35 ft/lbs.Not Great: I had to take some material off of the notches to get it to fit with my Troy Alpha Rail and in order to float the gas tube in my M&P upper. It didn't bother me too much, but it might give you a headache if you aren't good with a file.

I bought the Troy VTAC Alpha rail and it was crooked. After reading a few forums I figured out the barrel nut can be a cause. I bought this barrel nut to replace the one I bought on Amazon and now my Alpha rail is perfectly straight. This nut is well machined and if you're planning on running a FFR that attaches to the barrel nut go with this one.
I have decided to build an AR. I have been ordering parts for weeks - a little at a time. I have a box of many parts. They all appear "first class" and once I build the AR, I will know more about mating, color match, and function. I expect all parts to be "perfect"! The pricing on BLACK FRIDAY was spectacular - thank you.

I recently built an AR-15. (It's my second rifle but the first I ever built.) The barrel nut I originally bought (from Windham Weaponry) torqued to 30 ft-lbs but as typical the grooves did not line up with the gas port in the upper. So I tried to torque the nut to the next groove. I got to 100 ft-lbs and and the nut would not tighten any further. I took the rifle to my LGS to see if they could offer any advice. They tried to torque it further themselves but couldn't either. They advised that I should try a different barrel nut. (They didn't have any in stock.) So I came here to Primary Arms and purchased this one mostly because it was branded "Armalite". I was able to align this Armalite nut with the gas port at around 46 ft-lbs.I was able to take the fully assembled rifle to the range 2 days later and enjoyed firing it for the first time without issues.
not bad but not great
Installed ok but the contact points for the wrench were burred up had to take the dremel to them to make the handguard work.

It holds the barrel on and lets the gas tube through.
