Ballistic Advantage Frequent Asked Questions

The year was 2008, the place was sunny Apopka, Florida, and the event was the founding of Ballistic Advantage. From the get-go, they have been committed to producing barrels to please the most demanding of shooters: barrels that offer consistent accuracy round after round.

By combining old-fashioned craftmanship with the latest and greatest state-of-the-art manufacturing, these barrels aren’t just some of the best available—they’re some of the best values you’ll find anywhere. Every barrel carries a sub-MOA guarantee, and is entirely American-made, so you don’t just have a barrel that shoots superbly, you have one you can be proud of as well.

While they may be cut from the same 41V50 Chrome Moly Vanadium steel used in MIL-SPEC barrels, the Modern series barrels are so much more than MIL-SPEC.

Every barrel in this series is precision cut and treated with a corrosion resistant QPQ salt bath nitride finish. Unlike hard chrome QPQ does not alter the dimensions of a barrel. This allows for tight and consistent tolerances that lead to excellent accuracy without sacrificing barrel life or durability. To ensure proper torque specs, the M4 barrel extension and barrel are treated separately before installation. At the muzzle end, these barrels feature a flat crown with chamfer and caliber appropriate threading.

This series of barrels is available in 5.56 NATO, 300 BLK, and 9mm for the AR-15 platform, as well as in .308 Winchester for DPMS-pattern AR-308 platforms.

The Performance series is built around three tenants: Durability, Reliability, and Accuracy.

Starting with the Modern series as a base, these barrels feature the same 41V50 Chrome Moly Vanadium construction with salt bath nitride finish, but here is where the similarities end. For enhanced reliability the M4 barrel extension features a slick nickel boron treatment for reduced friction and easy cleaning. The muzzle end now features a recessed 11° target crown for improved precision, in addition to the standard caliber-correct threading.

This series of barrels is available in both 5.56 NATO and 300 BLK for the AR-15, as well as .308 Winchester for the DPMS-pattern AR-308 platform.

When precision is the name of the game, look no further than the Premium Series.

Cut from 416 stainless steel—a favorite used by the most demanding marksman the world over—these barrels feature an eye-catching matte bead blasted finish and the same reliability enhancing Nickel Boron treated M4 barrel extension that reduces friction and eases cleaning that can be seen on the performance series. Topped with a protected 11° target crown, these barrels offer exceptional accuracy that is perfect for target shooting, pest control, or for the competitive marksman.

This series of barrels is available in .223 Wylde, .224 Valkyrie, and 6.5 Grendel Type II for the AR-15, as well as .308 Winchester and 6.5 Creedmoor for DPMS-pattern AR-308 platforms.

Optimizing barrel harmonics is a difficult task, but one where the BA Hanson contour barrels shine.

The shoulder-less design promotes a symmetrical limiting feature to reduce barrel whip, allowing the barrel to quickly return to the ‘home’ position. This is especially beneficial for faster follow-up shots when running at a high rate-of -fire, or even full automatic fire. These barrels include a salt bath nitride finished low-profile gas block and are pre-milled for the included coil pin. BA Hanson barrels are available as Modern, Performance, or Premium line, letting you optimize your build as necessary.

Whether you’re finishing up your first build, your thirtieth, or simply upgrading an existing rifle, get the ultimate advantage.

Available in a variety of calibers and profiles, these high-quality barrels for the AR-15 and AR-10 offer exceptional quality and precision at very reasonable prices. Every barrel is not only made in America but guaranteed to provide sub-Minute of Angle precision when used with match grade ammunition. That’s quality you can count on.
