The .308 barrels designed by Criterion Barrels Inc. are designed to be compatible with a variety of rifle patterns such as DPMS, Remington, Bushmaster, and ADM. Not only are the hybrid profile barrels compatible with the popular receiver styles, they feature a M118 LR match grade chamber which allows the use of both 7.62x51 NATO and .308 Win. Ammunition. This AR-10 barrel is machined from 416R stainless steel with a Nitride finish inside and out. The Nitride process changes the surface properties of the bore, resulting in a hard and smooth surface with no negative side effects to accuracy. The Hybrid profile combines the accuracy benefits of a heavy barrel but tapers towards the muzzle to reduce weight. The rifle length gas system on this barrel has a .750” gas block diameter and features a dimple beneath the gas port for installing a set screw style gas block. This simple addition helps to lock the gas block down and ensures it won’t move while shooting. Criterion designs their gas system lengths to accommodate DPMS standard AR-15 gas tubes.
