At the advanced end of the spectrum of the home and consumer-grade monocular catalog from Flir, the Scion OTM 136 320x240 60 hertz refresh rate monocular with a 13.8mm lens offers incredible capabilities from a handheld device which includes the entire gamut of Flir innovations and offers the user unparalleled insight into dark surroundings. Offering nearly the full suite of options that the law enforcement specific monocular can offer, the Scion OTM simply lacks the real-time server upload and streaming capabilities of mission-critical real-time data that is an enhanced feature on the PTM model. That said, the OTM 136 with the 320 x 240 chip utilizes a boson 12 micron architecture and has digital and optical zoom capabilities as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi upload continuity. The fast refresh rate of 60 hertz offers excellent picture quality for slow-moving targets and allows crisp definition in archival video footage. The unit requires 6 CR123A 3V lithium batteries and offers approximately 4.5 hours of runtime on that battery configuration. Viewing palettes include white-hot, black heart, iron below, rainbow, grated fire, and lava, and there are picture-in-picture and scouting capabilities through the easy-to-navigate user interface that has a polished outer user architecture which has actual button-press controls.
Features:
There is a 1/4 inch by 20 threaded tripod mount and an internal 2 GB storage with an optional microSD card with up to 128GB external card storage capabilities. The size is approximately 9 inches, by 3 inches, by 2.4 inches, and the outer ruggedized housing is green and black. Over live Wi-Fi connections, video streaming capabilities are available. The advanced processing unit and BOSON 12 micron microbolometer offers recognition of a human size target at greater than 550m away. While the unit is still considered a relatively extravagantly priced option, for those who understand the capabilities of thermal imaging, or can justify the expense, the amount of technology and user quality-of-life functionality that is built into the Flir Scion OTM 136 with a 60 hertz refresh rate, is spectacular. It is truly a game-changing, industry-leading, standard-setting thermal imaging monocular.
