The Switch Mod 2 also utilizes a new proprietary locking mechanism that makes installation as easy as flipping a lever. Now you can easily swap rails between your rifles depending on what you are using it for. This clamping mechanism provides a tight lockup to the barrel nut without fear of it coming loose over time. Another well thought out feature of this handguard is the length. At 13.8”, it extends almost to the end of a 14.5” barrel but leaves just enough room for a direct thread or even QD suppressor. The minimal gap between suppressor and handguard offers a low profile and streamlined look. If you want a functional rail that you can easily swap between rifles, then the Fortis Switch Mod 2 is the rail for you.

Made with a 14.5" build in mind
by Ruben -
There are not too many manufactures out there which consider the intent behind a purchase but Fortis has had the consumer in mind with this handguard. This is one of the few (3 at most) handguards on the market which I have seen which have in mind the use with a 14.5" barrel, I bought this to achieve a specific look, and it was achieved. The handguard is sturdy while maintaining its lightweight stature, there is no play when the bottom latch if full closed and its is neither too stiff or in danger of coming loose. I am using this is conjunction with a SI Oppressor which fit snug up at the end of the handguard with centimeters to spare. Ease of installation and overall thoughtful consideration to a 14.5" barrel have this handguard in my future build priority list.
