The Fortis Manufacturing Switch Mod 2 handguard retains all the popular features from the original Switch series of handguards but is changed in all the right places to reduce weight without affecting strength or functionality. Unlike most handguards, the Switch Mod 2 got rid of the top picatinny rail for most of the length of the handguard. This helps to decrease weight as well as give you a slimmer profile that is more comfortable and ergonomic to use. However, the muzzle end still has an integrated picatinny rail, so that you have a solid locking point for iron sights that won’t lose zero. For your other accessories like lights, fore grips, or bipods, the Switch Mod 2 utilizes M-LOK attachment slots, so you can fully customize how you want your rifle set up. It even has diagonal M-LOK slots for attaching lights in the offset position without the need of a special mount. This M-LOK handguard also provides plenty of cooling with vent cuts that allow better airflow to the barrel as well as help to keep the handguard cooler for long shooting sessions. Whether you are upgrading your current AR or building a new one from scratch, the Switch Mod 2 combines function with a cool aesthetic that will improve any AR-15.

The Switch Mod 2 also utilizes a new proprietary locking mechanism that makes installation as easy as flipping a lever. Now you can easily swap rails between your rifles depending on what you are using it for. This clamping mechanism provides a tight lockup to the barrel nut without fear of it coming loose over time. Another well thought out feature of this handguard is the length. At 13.8”, it extends almost to the end of a 14.5” barrel but leaves just enough room for a direct thread or even QD suppressor. The minimal gap between suppressor and handguard offers a low profile and streamlined look.
