The Glock 19 is a compact handgun, offering a barrel and frame that are a half-inch shorter than the Glock 17, which made it easier to conceal but keeping the weight of its slide to maintain the short recoil operation. Many of the components of the Glock 19 were created to be compatible with the Glock 17.

Glock 19 Gen 4 Features

  • Compact 4th generation polymer frame
  • Striker fired semi-auto pistol
  • Safe action trigger
  • Long-lasting nDLC slide finish
  • Reversible magazine release
  • Modular back strap system
  • Chambered in 9mm Luger
  • 4.02" barrel
  • (2) 15-round magazines
  • Overall length: 7.28"
  • Overall Height: 5.04"
  • Standard polymer dot sights
  • Weight: 23.63 oz

The main differences from the Glock 19 Gen 4 from its predecessor are the more aggressively stippled grip, replaceable back strap, the larger magazine release button, and the dual recoil spring.

The Glock 19 Gen 4 comes with two standard fifteen-round magazines. Since it is compatible with factory magazines from the Glock 17 and Glock 18, the Glock 19 Gen 4 has can use a variety of magazine capacities from state-compliant 10 round options, to extended options up to 100 round drums. It is important to consider that any magazine with a capacity of more than 15 rounds (such as standard 17-round Glock 17 mags or 33-round Glock 18 mags) will extend past the grip.

The Glock Gen 4 is a striker-fired handgun using Glock’s patented SAFE ACTION system that provides shooters with a consistent and repeatable 5.5lb pull with three integrated safety mechanisms that make it one of the safest firearms on the market. The simple system uses a small locking lever on the face of the trigger that keeps the trigger from moving unless it’s depressed.

The firing pin/striker is kept locked in place by a safety plunger until the trigger is pulled. Combined with the drop safety in the trigger mechanism, a Glock handgun simply will not fire if dropped. This simple design is also fast to action with no external safeties to turn off or miss on the draw.

The Glock 19 Gen 4 has a fixed polymer sight in the front and an adjustable rear sight.

The Glock 19 Gen 4 also has an incredible variety of aftermarket accessories available. You will find lights, rails, night sights, laser sights, triggers, and more should you decide to upgrade.

Glock 19 History

The Glock 19 production originally started in the late 80s for the law enforcement and military forces with the GEN 1 or generation 1. Used by the Swedish Army from 1990 on, it was announced to replace the Sig 226 pistol as the primary side arm of the United States Navy SEALs, and it has also been used by the MARSC units (Marine Corps Special Operation Command).
The second generation was introduced in 1993, the third generation in 1998, and the Glock 19 Gen 4 (4th generation) in 2010.
