Primary Arms and Holosun have combined forces to bring you the power of the patent pending ACSS® CQB reticle in a red dot sight for the first time! The problem with dot sights is that a large dot is great up close but less useful at distances beyond 100 yards, because the dot becomes too large to aim with precision. A small dot used in conjunction with a magnifier fixes that problem, but is slower to acquire in close range snap shooting. The ACSS reticle uses a large chevron that the eye picks up very easily for up close shooting. At longer distances, the tip of the chevron is an infinitely small aiming point perfect for taking precise shots.

Using "zero" ranges of 25, 50, or 100 yards, the ACSS BDC is compatible with the following calibers:
  • 5.56 NATO / 5.45x39 from 100 to 600 yards
  • 300 BLK / 7.62x39 from 50 to 450 yards
  • 12 gauge 1 oz. slug from 25 to 150 yards
  • 7.62x54R from 100 to 600 yards
  • 7.62 NATO / .308 Win from 100 to 600 yards
  • 300 BLK 220 gr subsonic from 50 to 150 yards
  • .22LR 40 gr from 50 to 175 yards
  • 9mm carbine 115gr from 25 to 200 yards

The ACSS features three BDC dots underneath the chevron, allowing an unprecedented 600 yards of bullet drop compensation in 7.62 NATO or 5.56 NATO calibers. Auto ranging and wind leads are also incorporated into this smart reticle. A CQB horseshoe grabs the eye instantly for close quarters shooting and also approximates the spread pattern of 00 buckshot at 25 yards. The reticle for this sight is a central 2 MOA dot, centered in a 65 MOA circle with four positioning points. The diameter of the circle reticle represents approximately 5'5" at 100 yards 170cm at 100m.

The HS503G is a proven micro dot sight with an auto-on function that switches on the power with a slight movement of the sight. It comes with a 1913 Picatinny base which is removable, revealing an Aimpoint Micro-compatible base underneath. It also comes with the lower 1/3rd co-witness riser mount shown in the photos.

Quality Control Sucks

by -

I just received this today and nothing worked as it should. The chevron was blurry and there were two lines of dots very blurry and the horseshoe would not come on. It seems there is no Quality Control thru Primary Arms and they are sending out goods made in China without checking them for function. I'm sending it back and requesting that the new one has a note in the box saying it was functioning properly. The box it came in had no seals on it, so it should not be too much of a problem to open them and make sure they work before sending them out.

From PA: Although this is branded Holosun, it has our reticle so we do check 100% of them. The horseshoe comes on separately and you will find instructions in the manual. Or give us a call. We want you to be 100% happy with the sight.

Holosun NEEDS to check on their mount screw quality!

by

The red dot sight itself is great, but the mount is terrible. First range trip with the sight saw the screw connecting the mount to the rail snap right in half. It was properly torqued with blue loctite. I then used the screw from the second mount that comes in the box figuring this was a freak occurrence, torqued with blue loctite. I let it cure, then I come back to it a week later, and just the force of charging the rifle snapped this second mount screw (before I fired any shots). Very disappointed in the mounts, particularly the screws, that ship with this product.

The best reasonably priced red dot.

I have two of these now and like them a lot; one using the supplied mount and the other using a Holosun absolute co-witness mount on an AR15. No issues with either mount. My only criticism (and it's not really one) is that the reticle is so fine (1moa) that it's not very useful at 100+ yards. Problem solved with a flip-to-side magnifier. Will probably buy more of these in the future.

Great value, great function

Everything works as advertised, and this unit is a great value. I had never used a red dot before, and it took my eyes a few minutes to adjust.
The size of the chevron is a bit of a double edged sword. It's pretty tiny, which makes it very accurate, but hard to see the details of unless you're sitting perfectly still.
In the end, I'm shooting tight groups out to 100yrds with no magnification. It holds zero, has a light setting for every condition, doesn't blur when you turn the light up, and is very easy to adjust. For this price, you couldn't ask for much more.

Not for eyes with an astigmatism

by -

If you have an astigmatism then this optic is not for you... If not, it is a really nice little red dot. I have an astigmatism and never really had an issue with a red dot before, maybe a little splaying but never enough to make me not accurate. Initially looking into this optic, my eye just made it a blurry mess. I thought it was a bad optic until i looked at it through a magnifier and it was crisp and excellent. Flip the magnifier and instantly blurry. Keep this in mind if you buy this optic, it may be your eyes that are the issue.

ACSS Red Dot, thumbs up!

I finally got to use my new Holosun with ACSS, after a long wait. When I got it, I was convinced i wasn't going to like it because of the reticle being so small. But at the range, all that went away, and it really proved to be a great red dot. I had no problems sighting with it, and even though a magnifier would make this top notch for distance (in its class of course), it wasn't at all necessary for 100 meters or less.
Also, I had no problems seeing it in the full sun, with the setting on 4 or 5. Great optic, and I can't wait to put a magnifier behind it. Primary Arms delivers as always. (And Holosun, gotta give them their props too)

Awesome with a magnifier

by -

This sight is awesome! I have some astigmatism so most red dots are fuzzy to me. Even the expensive brands like aimpoint look like a star burst. This sight is much easier to see when paired with a 3x magnifier. The reticle is very small without the magnifier. If you buy this you NEED a 3x magnifier. Thanks PA!

Great sight

This is a great sight for the money. I have purchased two and will purchase more down the road. Works especially good when paired with a magnifier.

Another win for Dimitri and Primary Arms: ACSS ftw’

by -

Pros:
Lightweight
Solid Construction
Includes two bases/mounts
ACSS reticle!!!!
Inexpensive

Cons:
ACSS reticle is a little small, but what can you expect, it’s a micro red dot after all.

Great value and performance

The worst thing about the HS503G is that it makes me want to replace my T1 and H1 Aimpoints. The CQB horseshoe is fast at CQB distances with varying light, backgrounds and target colors - easier than finding a dot. I was wrong about writing the horseshoe off. I find the chevron superior to the dot as well when ranging out beyond 50 yards.
