The heart of the tough Gen II 5X Prism Scope is the ACSS Aurora reticle - the very first foray into meter-based ranging and fire solutions. The feature-rich and intuitive reticle design is uncluttered, designed to communicate vital information in an efficient manner to not only increase first-hit probability but drastically reduce the time necessary to reach a firing solution to get that hit. From 300m and in, the illuminated chevron aiming point provides wicked-quick snap shooting capability and both-eyes open engagement, so you never lose peripheral vision. The outer tips of the chevron pull double duty as leads for targets moving 3.1 mph perpendicular to the shooter. For targets moving a bit faster, the two lead dots on either side of the chevron are leads for a target hustling along at 8.6 mph. Aurora even compensates for mounted targets up to 40mph!

For engagements 400m and out, the integrated bullet drop compensation and wind leads come into play. The tried and true ACSS auto-ranging system allows for near-instant range estimation, which enables rapid transition to the BDC system that offers holdovers in 50m increments out to an impressive 800 meters. The real world often involves wind, and ACSS Aurora provides full value 5 and 10mph wind holds. Is the wind a little stronger or softer, maybe coming at an angle? Use the holds as a reference point and adjust accordingly. For operators in the field, no other reticle provides the combined capabilities and intuitive use of the ACSS Aurora.

The SLx 5X Gen III has even greater strength and flexibility than ever before with the next generation ruggedized mounting system. We’ve upgraded everything about the mount from materials and finish to the design to create a mount that will not just clamp securely to your rail, but stand up the rigors of real-world use. Integrated recoil lugs help lock your mount in place against the heaviest recoil while large diameter crossbolts give you significantly improved clamping power and will hold up to significant torque. The included riser is the perfect height for AR-15s and AR-10s, but can be easily removed for carry handle or AK use as well.

Superb value to performance optic

by

The new Aurora reticle in this is really excellent. The ranging markings, the numbers, and everything else inside not only works extremely well for most ranges out to 500 yards, but also isn't unusable as close as 10 yards. The glass is extremely clear with almost no noticeable edge distortion. The weight isn't unbearable and gives the optic a nice, quality feel to it. Illumination works well and I was able to use it in broad daylight and retain the colored reticle. The optic has a VERY short eye relief however, so you'll have to mount it pretty far back or crane your neck forward to get the proper sight picture. It feels very much like an ACOG without the brand logo and heritage. All in all, I really like this and most people who have looked through it agree.

"Aurora" Reticle Is Great

by

I just received the scope. The order was processed quickly and delivered in a very substantial foam padded box. The scope comes with flip-up ocular and objective covers, as well as wrenches and a pair of shorter base screws for use without the AR riser.

The reason I got this scope is the "Aurora" reticle. I do not like "busy" i.e.cluttered, reticles that obscure the scope's field of view. The "Aurora" reticle is not exactly minimalist either; it does have useful ranging stadia and side-wind offset graduations. I think this is a superbly well balanced reticle that gets you onto the aiming point quickly and precisely while keeping the full field of view clear of distractions.

It is a bit on the heavy side, but that suggests robust construction. The eye box is rather narrow, so careful positioning of the scope on the rifle is needed for a comfortable cheek weld you can assume without fidgeting.

Great prism scope

by

This is a solid quality prism scope option. I am very familiar with ACOGS and this is a great option if you’re looking for something similar. I doubt it will survive the same abuse as the more expensive option, but it is built very tough indeed. I appreciate the metric option and this is the perfect reticle for a battle optic. Unlike the 1-6 optic, this one only illuminates the chevron, which is perfect. I highly recommend this scope if you’re looking for a fixed power option in this mag range. Great glass, sharp focus with eye piece, bright illumination, solid build.

Wow a must have

by

Was vary easy to zero in and the glass is wonderful
I took it out to the range and had it hitting targets at 400 yards in no time.

First Primary arms scope

by -

This is my first time buying a primary arms scope and it is pretty impressive. The view is very bright and clear and the reticle looks great. The brightness of the red and green are very visible on the higher settings even out in bright south Florida daylight. I wont get a chance to test it on the range for a bit, but everything feels very well made, nice and solid build. Fits perfect on my 300blk upper. Might buy the 3x for another rifle.

Excellent

by

Nice glass, great illumination settings. 5x is perfect for my purpose, which is 100- 400m shots. Good field of view, reticle is awesome. The eye relief is a bit short for my taste, so I paired this optic with American Defense AD-B3-C and it is perfect. I think PA hit a homerun with this scope!

Great Service

by

Installing my new scope today. One of the cross bolts broke while torquing. Called PA and the replacement is on the way. I have a match this weekend I’m praying it gets here in time.
Thanks PA staff, your awesome.

Move over ACOG

by -

This scope is simply the best. 5X magnification makes target acquisition quick. The ACSS reticle is intuitive. the eye automatically goes to the tip of the chevron. This scope is a home run. Easy to set up and mount. no leveling. Secure it, zero it and go. Need to step out further? The aurora reticle makes that easy. I would buy this scope again before I ever spent the money on an ACOG.

Excellent 5x prism scope for the money

by

This is an excellent 5x prism scope for the money, right up there with an ACOG, but for a fraction of the price. Bright, clear optics, and the ACSS Aurora reticle is my favorite as it is intuitive and easy to use. User selectable red/green illuminated chevron is visible in all lighting conditions. Adjustable ocular/diopter brings the reticle into focus while looking at the target. The scope is well constructed and has a picatinny rail for adding a compact CQB open reflex sight. This is perfect for my intermediate range 18" railed PSA 5.56 rifle. I can definitely recommend the Primary Arms SLX Gen III scopes without hesitation.

Great Glass, Great Reticle

by -

I have a number of PA Optics with the ACSS Reticle and the Aurora is by far my favorite. The reticle is big enough to see easily but fine enough for shooting at distances of 500 yards and beyond. The reticle adjustments are very solid and tactile. Good job PA!
