Primary Arms SLx 3-18x50mm FFP Rifle Scope - Illuminated ACSS-HUD-DMR-5.56
Details
Details
The Primary Arms 3-18x50mm first focal plane illuminated rifle scope punches far outside of its weight class. At 3x magnification, fast snap shots at close range are a breeze with the daylight bright illuminated reticle, but the scope easily allows shooters to reach the 1,000 yard line when cranked up to the full 18x available at the top end. To make the best of the reticle at every magnification, it has been etched into the first focal plane. This allows it to be 'true' at every magnification, allowing the ranging, hold overs, and wind holds to be used as long as you can see them.
Features:
- First Focal Plane reticle is true at every magnification
- Partial reticle illumination of the horseshoe and chevron is daylight bright
- ACSS HUD DMR 5.56 Reticle provides moving target holds out to 600 yards, as well as ranging, bullet drop, and wind holds out to 1,000 yards
- Tuned for M193, M855 and Mk262 5.56 NATO ammunition
- Chevron central aiming point provides infinitely small aiming point
- Replaceable power ring fin can be positioned to user preference
- Locking, Zero resettable turrets
- 30mm main tube
- Weight: 25.4 oz. with battery, without lens covers
- Water proof, fog resistant, shock resistant
- Lifetime warranty
The 3-18x50mm is equipped with the ACSS HUD DMR 5.56 reticle, the most advanced moving target reticle in the world. Capable of guiding the shooter to first shot hits on moving targets out to a never before seen 600 yards and even accounts for three different target speeds. You can't hit any target if you don't know how far out they are, and the ACSS HUD takes the guess work out of range estimation. The integrated ranging system quickly and accurately provides target ranging, wind holds, and bullet drop compensation out to a full 1,000 yards, compatible with 55-grain M193, 62-grain M855, and 77-grain Mk262 5.56 NATO ammunition.
The 3-18x50mm scope body is our most advanced to date, offering new innovative features, as well as old favorites. A removable and replaceable fin on the power ring allows for rapid adjustment of the magnification range just like a magnification lever, with placement of the fin entirely at the discretion of the operator. The improved turrets have tactile and audible 0.1 MIL click adjustments, as well as offering easy reset once you've got your zero and secure locking to prevent accidental adjustments. The illumination turret offers six settings with an 'OFF' setting between each for fast switching to your preferred setting. A smooth parallax adjustment and fast focus eye piece work together to provide a perfectly crisp image of the target and reticle.
Featuring clear glass, forgiving eye relief/exit pupil characteristics, and efficient industrial design, the 3-18x50 FFP Scope with ACSS HUD DMR reticle is backed up by the Primary Arms Lifetime Warranty.

Great scope for the price, fabulous features, accurate optic and reticle is great!!

I have a Daniel Defense MK12 (AR-15 -5.56) with an 18" barrel and it shoots sub MOA. This scope is incredible when mounted to this rifle - I shoot up to 500 or 600 yards and still get shots on steel gongs. Holds and windage are a breeze, so is ranging.
The parallax adjustment makes a huge difference and is easy with a left hand. Turning on the red part of the reticle is difficult but I never use it outdoors. Adjustments on turrets are great and tactile feedback is present. This can be shot using doping and adjustments easily, but why... Zeroing the turrets is a breeze and a nice touch.
I have the extended sun shaded as well and it makes a difference in the AZ sun.
Zoom is a little stiff to turn but it is nice that it will not move after shooting - I could use a slightly larger zoom adjust knob.
Since it is FFP the reticle zooms when you zoom - when I am shooting LR, I am cranked way up to 18x , the bottom/edges get cut off. This is not a SFP (Second Focal Plane) reticle...
great for my old eyes

All I expected from a scope in this price point. Very clear glass and love the chevron style point of aim. To clairify from the previous reviewer how the drop comp reticle is effected by the amount of magnification, at max magnification you can only see down to 800 yards on the reticile. The highest you can set your magnification is 14x if you want to see the 1000 yd drop marks, slightly less if you need to account for windage.
Awesome scope

This thing is stupid accurate

Headline says it all. I was shooting sub 1 MOA at 100 yards with regular XM193 ammo once it was sighted in. In a couple of weeks, I'll be taking it out to the longer range at 200-300 yards so we will see how she fares then. I can't recommend this scope enough. Buy it! You won't be disappointed!
For Value and Performance - Can't beat it.

Highly recommended! Love this First Focal Plane (FFP) optic. Mounted on a DD V11 Pro 18" STW 1/7 twist with 77gr SMK 5.56. Ping 600 steel all day long. ACSS reticle is very nice for holds and ranging, however do your D.O.P.E. -- 700 yards with this set up and cartridge (above) requires ACSS hold over to be at 800. SBC Light Ballistics calculator (iPhone App) includes this reticle with all ballistic drops and wind calculations and reticle hold overs, and has been spot on! (Free Light version is now limited to 600 yards at the time I wrote this) So easy to hit steel on a clear and wind free day that its almost boring. IMO PA optics are probably the best value priced optics available -- I own 3 different PA scopes and I never had an issue or complaint.
Great Scope for the Money!

The scope is very good overall and may be the best for the money out there. My only complaint is the adjustments are not very tactile. They remind me of the old Leupold VariX III adjustments. You can feel the clicks w/o gloves, but it's certainly not the best. The glass is on par and maybe a little better than scopes in this price range. Resolving 22 cal bullet holes on 18x at 100 meters is difficult, but can be done. The adjustments for parallax and brightness are quite stiff, but not overly so. The power ring adjustment is nice and smooth. The reticle is awesome! I've always loved ACSS reticles. Overall I give 4/5, Value 5/5, Glass 3/5, Features 5/5 and Adjustments 4/5 stars.
Let me clarify a little on glass being 3/5. I'm comparing it to all my other scopes, including some costing 5x more than this scope. It's not a fair comparison, but I didn't want to say it's a 5/5 and folks think they're getting the same glass as a $2K scope. For a $400 scope it's 5/5.
Best scope for the money

Best scope for the money I've ever used! Crystal clear glass, the ACSS-HUD is easy to use and sharp! The illumination is awesome for low light and bright sunlight on low power! I love it!!
