Prepare to modify!!!
by Bret Hankes -
I bought one of these barrels, talk about a pain in the ass!
First of all, they chose to use an odd thread pitch making it a huge pain just to find a muzzle device.
Unless they have got their shit together it was pretty much like they just took an unmodified barrel extension and attached it to the barrel!
Out of the box it simply would not feed and it was absolutely brutal on the brass.
In order for the rounds to feed correctly I had to make major modification to the feedramp.
Last Radical Firearms order ever...

I agree, terrible product.
The muzzle thread sent me to Canada to have a custom muzzle break made.
The feed ramps eat brass, and never cycle across 4 major ammo types. Massive modifications are required. The radical firearms bcg (if you bought them as a set), has terrible spacing and comes staked poorly.
junk

bought 2 of these 458 barrels fixing to take them off and throw in the trash these are junk will not feed any ammo wish i could get my money back what a wast of time
Just a few tweaks needed

I didn't have an issue with this feeding the Nosler pointed tipped bullets but did with the truncated cone Berrys bullet. A little time spent with a dremel first reshaping then polishing eliminated the feed issues. This cartridge has some power so I also installed a Superlative gas block and an H2 buffer.... now it just wants to be fed!!
Cheap isnt always good !

After purchasing, installing and shooting a few rounds it wasnt cycling correctly and noticed my brass was getting chewed up. Doing some research and trying a few things to fix the problem nothing worked. Took it to a gunsmith to fix the feed ramp issue. Although i own a few parts and pieces from radical firearms which are all ok products i just wish i didnt own this !
From PA: We're very sorry that you had a problem with this item. We've sold hundreds of these with only one problem like this. We'd be happy to exchange it for you or accept a return.
Not bad for the price and it worked for me.

Bought the barrel and bcg combo along with a AERO 458 upper and lower. Had a feeding issue at first and found it was picky about mags. After modifying a couple hex mags and aluminum mags it feed fine and shot accurately. Also the 5/8-32 thread on the barrel seemed quite common on other brands of barrels and muzzle break was not difficult to find. I suggest anyone planning on building a 458 SOCOM to do some research and learn about the common issues with this caliber and be prepared to do a little modding.
Greats barrel for entry into 458 Socom

Purchased the barrel and had feeding issues at first. Spoke with James at Radical and he explained the mods need for the mags. Modded the mag and no issues with eating brass nor feeding for the last 100 rounds.
Great barrel great price

Excellent .458 barrel

Radical Firearms has become a favorite of mine. Their products are built very well, and the company is just built with great people.
This barrel is built like a tank, and will give you everything you need.
Might eventually work, definitely not a carbine length gas system

I just got my barrel two weeks ago along with a carbine length gas tube only to find out the gas tube was about 2 inches short of even being at the front of the upper receiver. The barrel is fine otherwise, no issues feeding but the rifle doesn’t cycle which i believe is mostly due to the mid-length gas tube even though it says it requires a carbine length. Im not sure if I just got one that wasn’t made correctly or if this is a known issue but it’s definitely something to be aware of, if I can’t figure it out I might just go with a different barrel that is actually made for a carbine length tube.
