Rosco Manufacturing Purebred .223 Wylde AR-15 Barrel Government Mid-Length 13.7"
The Purebred barrel series is the result of everything that Rosco Manufacturing has learned about producing barrels. Designed and built from scratch, each Purebred barrel starts as a blank made in-house from 416R stainless steel, before going through their entire manufacturing process. From stepped crown to barrel extension, the Purebred-series is meticulously cut and finished to offer out-of-the-box results that any shooter can appreciate.

High quality 416R stainless steel barrel blanks are produced in house and are the starting point for every Purebred AR-15 barrel. Each barrel is meticulously turned and polished, before being mated to their house-built barrel extensions, ensuring they have full control over the entire manufacturing in order to make sure each barrel meets their stringent quality standards. Whether you're building a precision RECCE or simply want an especially handy and maneuverable carbine without losing out on accuracy, the consistent performance of a Purebred barrel is just what you're looking for. For even better results, match it with a Purebred-series upper receiver!
This 13.7" barrel is machined to a balanced Government contour, offering a solid balance between rigidity and weight. The .223 Wylde chamber offers enhanced performance for 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington ammunition, with a 1:8 twist rate that allows for a excellent stabilization of the majority of popular rounds.
Rosco Manufacturing got their start producing high quality, hard-use precision rifle barrels. They have since expanded, offering their own line of serious use parts and accessories so you can assemble a rifle that doesn't just shoot good and look good, but will handle hard use as well. To top it off, they're production facility is in Central Falls, Rhode Island so you know that every component is 100% made in America, by Americans.
Ratings & Reviews
Great Budget Barrel
by Tim -
Fit and finish of the barrel is fantastic. Smooth and flat shooter with a SOLGW NOX on the end. Gassed about perfect. Running Silver Bear 55 gr for 2 gun comps and it ejects to 4/5 o'clock but feeds perfect, 193 is closer to 3:30/4. Accuracy is a little disappointing. It's capable of sub MOA, but it's closer to a 2" barrel for the average shooter. For a budget shooter, I think it's great. For a stainless accurized build it is lacking.
Okay at best
After watching the garand thumb video and seeing they were an RI company - I wanted to support being in NE. Ordered this barrel along with a warcomp, during assembly the surefire would barely make it a quarter way down the threads - thankfully got a tap and dye kit and was able to salvage the threads and the Warcomp, have to say I was pretty miffed I had almost lost a $160 barrel and $140 muzzle device. I’ve used surefire on all but 2 builds and never had an issue with off-spec threading - timing and installation is always made easy with their shims and charts. After final assembly I sent note to Rosco CS team with 2 follow ups and never got a response. For shooting the gas port is on point, great smooth cycling you’d expect from a mid length. Accuracy was Ok 2”-2.5” groups with 55grain 223 and 62 green tip with the rifle in shooters bench. Not exactly worst barrel, but given everything and no response from their team, for 13.7 id go BA SOLGW or Noske next time.
Quality Control Issues
by Billy Danz
After extensive trouble shooting the problem of failing the last round bolt hold open check and FTE's, it was determined that the gas port was undersized. Weapon functioned normally after drilling out the port. Not quite the level of quality I was expecting after watching reviews of Roscoe barrels on Garand Thumb and Sage Dynamics.
Watch out for the sour Sally's
Despite the negative reviews, the 13.7 is an excellent barrel and its value to price I'd say couldn't be beat. Gas ports are tuned per Rosco's product specs, failure to cycle is likely a buffer issue not the gas. Is there better barrels? Yes, in the $300-$500 range sure....if you're a hard-core Larper go for it. As for normal people, this barrel is a steal.

This barrel is an amazing shooter! I was very happy to see my shots touching in several very tight 3 shot groups.
I will definitely buy another one for my next AR build

I have a few Rosco barrels and they are well made. I have not shot this one but I have no doubt it will perform like the others.
