The Ruger American Rimfire Target in .17 HMR takes the same precision-oriented platform as the .22 LR version and chambers it for the fastest factory rimfire cartridge available. Pushing a 17-grain bullet past 2,500 feet per second with a ballistic coefficient that resists wind drift far better than any .22 LR load, the .17 HMR extends the effective range of a rimfire bolt rifle to 150 yards and beyond — in a purpose-built target configuration with a threaded bull barrel, full-length Picatinny rail, and adjustable trigger already dialed in from the factory.

The Ruger American Rimfire Target is a bolt-action rifle chambered in .17 HMR, built on a one-piece aluminum scope rail receiver with an 18-inch heavy threaded bull barrel and an OD Green composite stock.

The heavy 18-inch bull barrel provides the rigidity and thermal stability needed for consistent accuracy through extended strings of fire. The 1/2x28 threaded muzzle with included thread protector accepts suppressors and muzzle devices. No iron sights are included — the factory-installed one-piece aluminum Picatinny scope rail spans the full receiver for maximum optic placement flexibility. The Ruger Marksman Adjustable trigger is externally adjustable for pull weight without removing the barreled action from the stock. The 70-degree bolt throw maintains optics clearance through the cycling stroke. Power Bedding — a V-shaped integral bedding block — provides a consistent, repeatable receiver-to-stock interface. The tang safety is positive and conveniently positioned for right-hand operation. The OD Green composite stock includes front and rear sling swivel studs. One 9-round BX-17 rotary magazine is included.
