Slx 1-8x24 FFP Review
by Jim
I think the glass is very good for its price point, it exceeded my expectations. I agree that 1x is probably more like 1.1x, that isn’t an issue for me. On day light bright, it's not red dot bright, but I do not use an illuminated optic in bright day light sun. In all other conditions the horse shoe reticle is bright enough. The majority of my range time was spent between 500 and 625 yards. At 8x I did not notice any edge distortion or CA, however, I wasn’t focusing with the edge. The scope had good clarity and the targets were sharp. I also thought that the eye box was bigger than I expected. Once I had dope for the ammo I was using, I was able to hold elevation, starting from 300 yards out to 625 yards, achieving hits on steel plates. The ACSS Griffin X Mil reticle is great, that and the fact that it is FFP, is the reason I purchased it. Really my only complaint is that the diopter doesn't have a lock ring and turns easily, other than that it's a great scope for the money.
Good overall Value

The good
Clear glass
Nice reticle
Well built
Caps included
The Bad
Eye box at 6-8x is horribly tight
Edge distortion
Clarity and light transmission falls off at 4x
Overall a good value for the money but doing 8x at this price point may be a bridge too far.
At this price point there had to be trade-offs made, but there are other scopes in this price class without such a horribly tight eyebox.
4 stars regardless because of the overall value.
Dependability with or without a battery
by Jmc -
Performs like a red dot and reaches out for rifle distance performance. Battery is taken out of the equation if it fails.
I have two and if it was financially practical I switch all my AR's from red dots to the Primary Arms SLX1x8x24ffp👍
Good for the hood

Not a bad little scope. High dollar value but cheaper made. Tracking is ok. Clicks are crisp. I would change a few things if I but good at the price point. Wish it had better turrets but for the price it will work. NOT FOG PROOF IT WILL FOG
Decent

The real point of a LPVO is to have the ability to essentially have a red dot sight and a scope in one unit. For an LPVO to work like that, 1x really needs to be zero magnification with no distortion (fish eye, fish bowl, whatever you want to call it). Otherwise, using the scope both eyes open is very difficult.
This scope has enough distortion and magnification at the 1x setting that, in my opinion, it's not a proper LPVO.
However everything else about this scope is of great quality for the price.

Very clear and quality lpvo for the money. The reticle is fantastic and the brightness levels suffice for what is needed.
Exactly what I was looking for

Beautiful scope. Very fast target acquisition at 1x. Love the Raptor reticle. Illumination bright and clear. Very impressed and will absolutely be shopping Primary Arms for my other rifles.

First LPVO I’ve owned. Did a lot of research before picking this one. Not disappointed one but.
Surpassed all my expectations
by Matthew -
I wasn’t sure what to expect at the one by eight at this price. As soon as I open the box I grabbed the scope and could immediately tell it was high-quality. I put it up to my eyes and went straight to eight times magnification. Much to my surprise it was crystal clear and easy to see the reticle. It also looks awesome on my scar 17. Couldn’t be happier once again primary arms hit it out of the park.
Gets the job done!

I use this optic on a 6.5 Grendel to deer hunt. This optic is meant for quick acquisition of a target. Not the best glass. But you can beat the price. I put my money into the barrel. Also purchased from this site. Combine that with good ammo and I shoot sub MOA at 100 yrds. If you want an optic that gets the job done and does not cause you to go into debt, this is your choice.
