Through the years they continued to bring new designs loved by civilians, police, and military, eventually leading to their highly popular, striker fired M&P pistols. The variety of firearms from concealed handguns to precision bolt action rifles combined with S&W’s unmatched reliability and history are the reason they stand out from the crowd.

Best Budget AR
I have spent the last 20 years working with AR-15s. The sport II is by far the best bang for your buck without spending a lot of time building (and waiting for parts to go on sale). If you're iffy on buying a palmetto/building a kit from them. Go S&W all day. The only upgrade to this thing is maybe a better BCG, and/or optics.
Basic, entry level, weapon.

It's an AR. It is accurate and parts for it are everywhere.
<br>S&W makes good guns and did a good job at making an affordable, entry level, rifle.
Bought this exact configuration at a local shop for thirty bucks more than this list price. Shot very accurate right out the box. Irons were already very accurate. Could use a nicer grip, and a quality dot and sling. But other than those minor additions this will meet your 5.56 needs
