The M&P 9 Shield is one of the most popular concealed carry handguns in America and this 2.0 version found a way to make it even better. It incorporates the same professional design features of the full-size duty pistols and shrinks it down to a size that is slim and easy to conceal under clothing. It features a new, enhanced striker fired trigger with a lighter pull and crisp break. The reset is short, tactile, and audible for when you need to take fast follow up shots. The trigger also includes an integral safety to prevent it from being pulled if the lower half of the trigger is not depressed. Even though the polymer frame is extremely thing and lightweight, it has enough room for an integrated Crimson Trace red laser in front of the trigger guard with an easy to press activation switch. Lasers give you the ability to aim quickly in any lighting condition without having to take the time to line up your sights. However, this 3.1-inch barrel and slide have steel, three-dot sights on top for more precise shots. The slide and barrel are also coated in Smith and Wesson’s Armornite finish for enhanced corrosion resistance. A common problem with highly concealable handguns is the shortened grip length so Smith & Wesson has decided to include a second magazine that not only increases grip length for better controllability, but also increases the capacity by one round for a total possible capacity of 8+1.
