At first I wasn't sure about running this on my AK and it did take some time getting use too. Its a little tricky to get on your AK but is solid when mounted correctly. I heard that it didn't work with polymer mags but that's not true. I have ran steel, magpul, and cheap tapco mags and they all fit and run properly. NOTE: The tapco mags are a little on the tight side at first but once broke in they insert just fine. It does make reloads a lot faster due to the flared magwell but still requires a slight rock and lock. The flared magwell alone makes this worth trying plus its only $40

MFER

by

Have to say difficult on the WASR but once fitted it did help. But if you like your drum magazine this is one item you are going to want to pass on. No drum will fit after install and I have 4. Still not going to take it off this one, I've always got the other for those special days.

WHAT I EXPECTED

by

I FOUND THIS TO BE AN REALLY EASY FIX TO THE MAG WELL PROBLEM OF MAGAZINE ALIGNMENT, EASY INSTALL WITHOUT A HITCH MY MAG RELEASE WORKS IN CONCERT WITH THE FUNNEL DO RECOMMEND THIS WOULD LIKE IT A LITTLE CHEAPER THOUGH...

Love it but required a LOT of fitting on Saiga

by

i had a detailed review of the strengths and challenges of the MFER but was limited to 1000 characters. I have a love hate relationship with my MFER. First, it is flimsy. When you look at the pictures, you get the impression it is solid polymer. It isn't. The entire thing is hollow so it will bend, twist, and crack very easily during installation so be careful. Second, the hardware is totally inadequate. The screws and nuts look like the puny hardware from the guts of a computer. Third, it did not fit my Saiga at all and required a LOT of material removal where it fits around the trigger guard. You might get lucky and it fit your trigger guard but don't count on it. Btw, remember how the MFER is hollow? That comes back to haunt you because the section that fits around the trigger guard is hollow. So as you remove material, the puny hardware starts to shift, slide, and pull through the unit as material thins in order to fit around the trigger guard.

I installed it on my Saiga 5.56 and so far it works well. I don`t think it would tolerate heavy use , but for me that I treat my weapons with care , it is ok .

ak 47 mfer

I installed the solar tactical MFER on my amd 65.Installation was a breeze, fit and finish is excellent, and i noticed a huge difference in speed of mag changes.I think that the MFER is one of the best mods that anyone could do for an akm variant!

A must for any AK owner!!

I was sketchy but ordered one anyway. I have since ordered another one and swear by them.

Poorly Constructed Product. Broke, Read Below.

by

Let me start off by saying Primary Arms was awesome as usual but this cannot be said about the actual product made by Solar Tactical. This product in a nutshell; Very cheap construction on a tough weapon. My experience with this product has been nothing but headaches. Durability is the problem. After only about 2 days of tactical and combat reloads with standard com-block metal AK mags, the product has failed. It how sports a large missing piece of plastic were the screw attaches to the front lip. It is completely un-usable in that condition. So I contacted Solar Tactical about the plastic cracked AK funnel. They were very friendly after sending photos of the cracked funnel and say they will send a replacement out next day. Well here I am 3 weeks later writing this review with no replacement or contact from Solar Tactical. I hope this helps just one individual save your hard earned money on an appallingly made product.

Good Product

The MFER is a simple product and works as advertised. I own two of them and find that they do help to eliminate fumbling a mag insertion when doing fast reloads in competitions or classes. It doesn't say it in the product description, but they do work on 5.56 AKs also, I have one a SLR106.

This is a good product.

Completely Voodoo

by

This is probably the single greatest upgrade I have seen for the ak variant rifles. Completely eliminates any mag fumbling and you no longer have to be a master of dexterity to insert a magazine without breaking your sight picture. The MFER seems to do all the work for you. Rock solid , easy install, and well made.Works excellent on my SAR-1, but it does take up a little space in the trigger guard. However, there's still room even with shooting gloves.

Great for quicker reloads.

by

This item really makes reloading the AK easier. Wish it was made of metal though. One thing to note is you can't use drum mags with this attached.

DOEN'T FIT THE MAG WELL.

by

THIS PRODUCT DOESN'T FIT THE AK47 C39 MAGWELL. I DON'T RECOMMEND. A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY.

Some fitting required...

by

This thing didn't exactly fit on like a glove, took some sanding/grinding to get in shaped right. Then after I got it fitted into the mag-well, my ((10)) mags wouldn't go in properly. So back to the grinder, had to sand out a little up in the front portion of the funnel to get mags to seat in correctly.Anyway, it works flawlessly now. Doesn't look very pretty with the grinding/sanding here, there, almost everywhere. But this isn't on a safe-queen rifle anyway, so it fits in just fine.If I had to make some suggestions, those little tiny screws are a pain to work with. Maybe step up the size another level, otherwise not sure how else to improve this without making it too bulky.

Excellent Product

by

This will work on a WASR with slight modification. I had to bend the tab up flat to get the MFER to attach. This left a gap between the MFER and the lip that the mag grabs on to. I filled that area in with the welder, now its good to go. Whole process took 20 minutes. Primary Arms offered stupid fast shipping and some of the best customer service in the game. PA is my go to shop for firearm accessories.

Hard Pass

I’d love to be able to love this product as it presents another great step forward for modernizing th AK. That said, this thing isn’t any good. It never quite fit properly and required a ton of hand fitting and sanding. It changes the angle of your reloads, so those 1000 times you’ve reloaded your AK, yeah learn that all over again. The polymer is cheap, it’s hollow, and it doesn’t quite fit right. The only mags I could get to cleanly load after install were commie steel, polymer and the like wouldn’t load. Safe yourself the trouble and just pass.

If speed really matters to you then this is worth the fuss.

I love these things but bear in mind that they are a consumable item and will wear/break after about 1500 reloads. They fit my Bulgarian SLR 7.62x39 guns perfectly and they fit my buddies legit Hungarian preban perfectly but everything else required 10-15 minutes of fiddling and adjusting to be "just right" and probably wont hold up as well since they aren't a perfect fit. I found that installing the part while it was hot from sitting in the sun made for a slicker installation on my Saiga 7.62x39 and Cugir Romanian(found out by accident).
