Your bolt carrier group is one of the most critical parts of your build. Don't buy an imitation. This is the same BCG Spike’s uses on their builds. These complete bolt carrier groups come magnetic particle inspected and high pressure tested. The carrier is made from 8620 steel and the bolt from no. 158 carpenter steel or 9310 depending on supply. The gas key is properly staked, the extractor spring has been upgraded with an O-ring for increased tension, and all surfaces are MIL-SPEC heavy phosphate coated or internally chrome lined. The Spike's Tactical Spider Logo is engraved on the right side of the carrier to show through the ejection port. Assembled BCG weighs 11.6 oz.

Can't beat this BCG

by

Haven't seen a recent review on this so i thought I'd put up my own. I gotta say, this is an awesome BCG! Works flawlessly with the ammo I've used, i mostly shoot Federal 55 gr and X-TAC 62 gr. Utilizing an AR Stoner barrel and Core15 upper, this BCG run perfectly. So far, about 400 rds down range, and this Spikes BCG has not failed me yet. The only thing is when you first get it the ejector pin is very stiff and needs a little break-in but other than that its G2G. Like it so much, my 2nd one is already in the mail for my next build.

Trouble

Bought this BCG after reading the large number of positive reviews hoping to get an awesome BCG that would withstand the test of time. Well it lasted alright 2 rounds. The very first round cycled just fine but after being fired and ejecting the problems began occurring. The spent casing ejected and as the bolt picked up the next round out of the magazine the seat of the round appeared to fail to seat properly in the bolt and the round only made it about halfway into the chamber before jamming. This continued until I thought I saw what the problem was. I could see that the bolt wasn't picking up the round correctly as the lip of the case was partially sitting off to the side of the ejector. I used my pocket knife to hit the round over more in line with the chamber. As I did this the bolt was then successfully able to seat the round in the chamber. However this problem persisted with an entire 20 rounds loaded into a standard Magpul Pmag. Believing the problem to strictly be the BCG and nothing more I swapped the Spikes Tactical with a Bear Creek BCG that I had in a separate upper. Low and behold no more problems. The gun cycled flawless through many more mags. I will be contacting Primary Arms and asking for a refund as this is unacceptable. This was a brand new out of the box BCG that just flat out had issues. The Bear Creek was new as well so this had nothing to do with a ''break-in'' period. This was an every round issue aside from when I would manually pull back the charging handle and send it home. I'd read in a separate review on Brownell's that Spikes had possibly stopped building their BCGs in the USA so this may be the issue. I've always heard good things about Spikes Tactical so I'm hoping that I just happened to get a lemon and that this is not a continuous problem that others are seeing. FYI for informational purposes the rifle I was using was an Anderson Arms lower with a BCM parts kit carbine buffer tube and an Anderson Arms upper receiver with a mid length gas system. Ammunition was American Eagle 55 grain FMJ.

Good BCG

Spikes Tactical comes through for me . I bought this BCG for my DPMS ORICAL because the original one was not mil spec. I also installed an a H1 buffer . I went to the rang over the weekend and she functioned flawlessly . I fired about 200 rounds of assorted ammo . I shot Wolf tula American eagle Perfecta 62 grain 5.56 NATO tracer rounds and 62 grain 5.56 penatrator rounds. I used Weapon Shield gun oil in and on the Bolt and carrier . I did clean and work the bolt in and out of the carrier a few time as it was pretty stiff on arrival . After I cleaned and worked the bolt I could flic it out . One thing I had to do was center up the roll pin for the ejector was sticking out ever so slightly. I am very happy with this BCG and highly recommend it !! BTW my DPMS is driving tacks !
