Details

Your bolt carrier group is one of the most critical parts of your build. Don't buy an imitation. Spike's Tactical AR-15/M16 Nickel Boron Bolt Carrier Group. These complete bolt carrier groups come magnetic particle inspected and high pressure tested. The carrier is made from 8620 steel and the bolt from 9310 tool steel. The gas key is properly staked, the extractor spring has been upgraded with an O-ring for increased tension, and all surfaces are coated with nickel boron. Nickel boron is much easier to clean and can help your firearm run more reliably when heavily fouled or with little lubrication. The Spike’s Tactical Spider Logo is engraved on the right side of the carrier to show through the ejection port. Assembled BCG weighs 11.6 oz.

Not as good as my WMD BCG.

Thanks to Primary Arms for their fast shipping and great customer service. I own a WMD NB BCG as well and it cost the same as this Spikes BCG. The machining and tooling is better on the WMD. I would buy the WMD instead next time. It looks as though the firing pin, gas key bolts, gas rings, firing pin retaining pin, ejector and extractor pin are not coated in nickel boron on the Spikes BCG. Everything on the WMD BCG with the exception of the springs and gas rings is treated with nickel boron. The attention to detail is lacking. The finish on the gas key is rough and the tooling and machining isn't anything special. I was expecting a higher quality BCG for $180.00. This will be my last from Spikes. UPDATE: After shooting around 1,300 round of .223/5.56 the bolt is completely black and I can't get it to return to it's silver like original condition. My WMD bolt cleans up just like new every time. I hope this helps someone who is spending their hard earned money on a new NB BCG.

Flawed finish

The spikes tactical bcg that I had received had a very obvious flaw in the finish of the nickel boron on the rear of the bcg. The finish was very rough dark tan in color almost like rust. Returned it to PA with prepaid shipping label and they are suppose to send me another one. That was almost two weeks ago and still haven't received the new bcg that I was suppose to get a week ago. PA is still being very nice and easy to work with throughout this process but I just want my bcg.

This thing is as smooth as a baby's butt. And the spider logo on it adds some cool factor to it. Don't bother with the lightweight version that spikes offers as it is BARELY lighter than this one. Pretty dumb actually. Buy this one. You will love it.

Not as easy to clean as I was hoping for

Used this BCG for the first time this past weekend. Shot 120 rounds and although it shot just fine I could not tell any difference in performance or ease of cleaning between it and my stock Daniel Defense BCG. Kind of disappointing for the $$ I spent....There is nothing functionally wrong with this BCG but I'm giving it two stars because IMO the nickel-boron coating seems to be a bit of snake oil.
