Fills a niche role with quality fit, finish, and function

by -

Historically I have not been a huge fan of Troy. That being said, I recently found myself wanting to replace a Samson FF handguard for a thinner M-lok handguard. The issue I faced was the barrel was a 14.5in barrel with pinned Dynacomp. This meant I could not remove the gas block and thus could not remove the factory barrel nut that the Samson HG was installed on.

This handguard fit the bill perfectly, clamping directly to the factory barrel nut.

In the end, the HG clamps on nice and solid and was nice and easy to square up to the upper receivers' top rail. It fills an admittedly niche role in today's AR market (being able to latch to the factory barrel nut) but I'm darn glad its there, as this HG was my only option available short of drilling out and then re-pinning the Dynacomp.
