However, like any mounting system, it needs some maintenance to assure consistent reliability. With all the gas feedback of suppressed shooting, carbon buildup in the ratcheting system can leave you with a total lockup. These lockups can be a real pain, and the only immediate solution is “shooting the can off.”.

That’s why SureFire made the carbon scraping tool. It mounts over the suppressor adapter on your muzzle device. You then turn the scraper back and forth until it scrapes off all the built-up carbon. This greatly reduces the time and effort spent on cleaning your SureFire adapter by hand.
