It offers a front night sight with an orange outline and fixed rear sight for reliable target acquisition.

The Model 856 sports gray Cyclone VZ grips ensuring a firm grip to minimize recoil and shooter torque making a controllable and comfortable gun to shoot. The Taurus strong steel frame and cylinder provide the durability to withstand consistent use and abuse in a Tungsten Cerakote finish. This Taurus 856 boasts a 3-inch steel alloy barrel and has a 6-round capacity. The Taurus Model 856 .38 Special is light, concealable, and controllable, making it a good option for everyday carry or home defense.

These need a little fine tuning, and it's a winner.

Wolff sells two Taurus spring kits. Start with the heavier (lightened) main spring and the heavier lightened return spring, and work your way to the lighter springs until the gun does not fire reliably, and the go back up to the heavier main spring. These kits cost about $20 delivered to your home or shop. A little cleaning, the spring swap and the trigger will fell like nice Smith & Wesson. If you like the heavy trigger, just shoot it as is. KEEP THE OLD PARTS! Taurus has a great warranty. Put the old springs in, mail it back and Taurus fixes it, free of charge. S&W won't do that. Being a .38 you go pretty light on the trigger return & main springs. Some super fine grit wet dry wrapped around a feeler gauge and you clean these up a little. Rinse out the grit and they get really smooth feeling.
