Protecting your hearing is extremely important and high-quality noise reduction hearing protection is a must if you are an avid firearms shooter. OSHA states that an impact noise of 140 decibels can be damaging to your hearing and the average AR15 shot is around 150 decibels so one shot without ear muffs will damage your hearing. The Walker Excel 500BT electronic ear muff provides ample decibel reduction with its advanced dynamic sound suppression that detects loud noises and cuts them off immediately while amplifying low-level conversations.

Walker has been developing innovative solutions to hearing protection and enhancement for over 25 years. Walkers line of products are continuing to push technology with advanced digital circuitry and water-resistant materials so that you can go shooting rain or shine. Walker is dedicated to providing hunters and firearms enthusiasts with an affordable and effective way to protect hearing while out at the range.

Better options exist

I purchased these to replace a pair of older green and black muffs from another company that started to fail after 12 years. The better NRR rating made them attractive. I gave up on them after 20 minutes.

Even with Power Boost, these are only about 75% as amplified as the competitors product.

And the sound clipping... Absolute trash. I've never worn a pair of muffs that completely cut out all sound after a shot for as long as these did. I could not hold a conversation at an the range because the sound was clipped for so long. In addition, I tanked two Steel Challenge courses because the muffs still had the sound clipped by the time the bullet hit the steel. So here I am hitting each plate 3 times while the RO is laughing and screaming "You hit it! Stop stop!".

If I could return them, I would. But these are going to sit in the bottom of a range bag as an emergency set or a loaner.
