Some good, some bad

by -

I ordered two and the quality is mediocre. Yes, it's Anderson. For the price, which said 3.98$ shipping turned out to be almost 10$ when I got charged, they still aren't a bad deal. It changed when I added a parts kit to what I got charged, then dropped back down when I removed it so it was specific to this product and why I put it in the review. The trigger pin holes are loose for more liking. I put an Anderson trigger in on and a PSA in the other. Both are equal in that matter. On one the rear takedown pin hole is loose to where the detent catch the pin so I have to bang it closed. The finish is not durable at all. This will house in and out of spec magazines so that's a plus. There are no issues with the buffer tube from those same two manufacturers I mentioned and they fit on multiple uppers as they should. These function and are good for budget ARs. I would still get them for the price but anything more expensive and I'd turn elsewhere for a lower.

Excellent value!

I purchased two of these and needed them quickly. I called prior to submitting my order, PA took care of me that day and the lower's arrived at my FFL dealer in time. 5 Stars for the great service!

For the price I paid, I'm pretty impressed with the quality and so far have had no problems with fit testing several brands of LPK's. The one's I ordered were in great condition, no marks, no scratches and so on. And when I compared them to my existing "brand name" lowers which were 2x-3x more costly, the gap in quality and workmanship was not that far off.
I was impressed enough that at this price, I'll continue to buy more on my next build's.

Good for the money

Where the bolt catch roll pin goes in my lower had rough burrs that were not taken off before it was finished. Other than that it went together pretty good and looked fine.

Great stripped lower

by

Shipping from Primary Arms was quick as usual. Upon inspection at the FFL dealer the coating was smooth and consistent. Installing the LPK and buffer tube I had purchased locally I found all parts fit perfectly. I have no reason to doubt the upper I am waiting on will fit fine to. How Primary Arms sells this at the price they do is beyond me but if/when they are back in stock I will likely buy another for a dedicated .22 AR.

Great quality product and price point!

by

This receiver was received in good condition and after inspecting it all holes were perfect except for the front pivot pin inside the clevis had a slight burr which was easily removed. Machined surfaces were great quality with no machine marks. Finish was consistent all over and matches my PSA parts perfectly! Everything assembled together well with my PSA kit and the fit with PSA kit components is very good. Overall a good quality receiver which I will buy again and recommend to friends!

Anderson Lower (Blemished)

by

Primary Arms has outstanding shipping! Ordered late Monday evening and at the store for pick up Friday by noon. I am still waiting on two stripped uppers I ordered from the "Other Guys" three weeks and counting. I ordered 2 Anderson Stripped Lower: One perfect no noticeable blemishes while the other one still had some debris in the trigger assembly area effecting a pea size area of the finishing. Will not effect the functioning of the fire control group. Comparing the two Anderson's to my Colt AR6720 almost all identical. Cerro keyhole forged marking lower threads cut all the way through the buffer area and the pistol grip screw hole is open but only threaded 3/4 the way. The Anderson has a smooth or cleaner trigger well compared to the Colt AR6720 but the Colts magazine well feed ramp cut is better toward the front. Finish is duller compared to the Colt but I am extremely pleased with the purchase and will consider for future builds.

Great lower receiver!

by

Everything fit perfectly and is in spec. No issues assembling the lower at all and no physical blemishes. Great lower receiver and would definitely recommend to other.

Super low priced lower and EXCELLENT SHIPPING/SERVICE

by

This review is a little late in coming as I ordered two lowers Aug 1. Received them in 3 days...just EXCELLENT service from Primary Arms! Lowers are in super condition. No burrs and all holes are drilled nice. Anodize is good overall and fully covered however there are a spot on each which seems like the anodize finish is duller than the rest of the overall finish but it is not easily seen so I'm not taking off any stars. Overall I'm super satisifed with the price the product and the service.

Worked fine quality was lacking.

by

My lower receiver had defects. The bolt catch roll in hole had not been machined fully and had burrs. Those defects were anaodized over. The actually finish looks lumpy in one spot. And the safety selector hole was also not machined well it has rough edges. I built on it anyway and functions but I can't say I'd recommend this lower.

Are these supposed to be blemished?

by

This is an initial review after receipt of two of these lowers both of mine have the same defect. There is a blemish in the left front take down hole. This doesn't seem to be significant enough to impact performance but there is nothing in the description about these being blemished and so I didn't expect this kind of quality and QA. I have not built these out yet to confirm or deny other issues with these. My FFL mentioned that they thought there were some spec issues with Anderson lately. A Google search suggests that Anderson is doing some odd things with the grip screw specifications using 3/4" threads instead of the standard 1" and my FFL mentioned that there have been some other issues lately with specs on Anderson. This is disappointing to hear. I purchased an Anderson lower a couple years ago and while it didn't have blemishes it did have some play between the lower and upper which I resolved with a small wedge. I also had trouble with my FCG functioning properly but that may have just been attributed to losing the LPK trigger lottery replacing the FCG resolved it. However looking online others with Anderson lowers have complained about their FCG not working well too so take it for what it's worth not sure if I can blame the lower there. I'm not too upset. As others mentioned these are not make or break issues but issues nonetheless. Hard to complain too much for $50 but the differences are there next to a higher quality upper for sure. I'm just trying to use this review so that you are an informed consumer.

works great

by

Just like most of the other reviews on here can't say enough good about these I have 2 Anderson lowers and 1 Anderson upper I have fired over 2000 rounds through one no problems jams fte or ftf with tula brown bear and reloads if It can't handle cheap ammo I don't want it and my Anderson builds do. if your a name whore go pay a lot more for a lower that probably come from the same forger I will take the money I save from buying Anderson and buy more ammo

Excellent quality and price

by

I bought 2 of these uppers for a first time build father son project. Went to the local ffl to pick them up and I was very pleased with the quality of these uppers. No issues with the finish and the lower parts kit fit like a glove. I will be ordering more just in case (election year). Shipping was fast and cutsomer service was excellent when I had a question.

Fits Great With Every Part I Ordered

by

This lower has a cheaper finish but absolutely fit like a glove with my parts kit upper barrel assembly buffer tube and furniture. Can't be beat for the price. I don't get the people who gripe about looks when a rifle it meant for self defense. Who gives a shit about a Hollywood finish. If it works...Use it. Getting half inch groups at 100 yards with my build using this receiver. No flaws or hiccups either.

Good quality product.

by

I've put together at least 5 AR's using Anderson lower receivers (and lots of other parts produced by them as well). I've yet to have a problem with any of their products. A very satisfied Anderson customer.

Not to spec

by

Installed my LPK on this lower and the takedown and pivot pins are so tight that I have to use a punch and hammer to remove them. And this is with out the upper attached.

Good Stuff!

by

I have already completely built up four of these lowers and just ordered two more. For the price Primary Arms offers them at you cannot beat the quality and price point. I stick to medium priced mil-spec hardware and I have never had one problem with a build of any lower that was reputable these included!

Bad reviewers are idiots.

by

I have built over 20 AR's with these and not one problem that was not easily overcome in less than 10 minutes. These reviewers who talk about the tap length of the grip screw and can't overcome this/that problem have never been in the field and are just mall-cop-ninjas. Hmm... one lock washer for less than 99 cents and problem solved; wow that was hard. If you can't adjust with such a minor issue you have no business building an AR. Go buy your DPMS and quit crying.

Garbage!

by

I bought two of these stripped lower receivers on sale and there are problems with my uppers fitting as well as problems with common magazines dropping free. The finish is terrible with bare aluminum showing through in spots. The area around one of the bolt releases was not machined cleanly. The receivers are also not tapped far enough to accept a standard pistol grip screw. I am very disappointed!

WOW!!! WHAT A DEAL

by

got two on sale. PA shipped quickly upon receipt of my FFL. These 2 now make it an even dozen in my safe. The lower was just like all my other Anderson Lowers that I have. What I did notice is now Anderson is tapping the grip screw hole all the way through the receiver...my other 10 don't have that. Anyway WAY TO GO PA!!! Thanks for the killer deal. Both Anderson and PA get two thumbs up!!!

Not Mil Spec

by

Quality lower overall. However Anderson decided in their infinite wisdom that the grip screw hole should not go all the way through. This means that the grip screws in nearly all mil spec LPKs will not work. Of course the Anderson LPK has a shorter grip screw that works. Or you're going to have to go to the hardware store to grab one. Or tap it all the way through. If you can not use all of the parts that come with a mil spec LPK then you don't get to call yourself mil spec. Other than that the lower is quality and build went together well.

Perfect and not just for price

by

Worked perfectly with my PSA Freedom MOE lower kit. No modifications needed.

Awesome

by

not just for the price.....Just as good as any other lower all parts fit just like they should. No sanding no modifications. I used a Freedom lower kit and it couldn't fit any tighter or better. Fit the upper tight not loose at all. Will buy again for the next AR I build. I saw a complaint about the finish I like it. Only complaint is I had to wait for them to be back in stock!

Bolt catch spring

by

Found access sand from the casting that had been covered with paint/powder and was keeping the bolt catch from functioning. Cleaned the sand out and worked perfectly.
