This 5.56 NATO barrel also features a government profile that is designed to reduce weight while still retaining rigidity and has a mid-length gas system that combines reliability with recoil reduction. It has a .750 gas seat diameter for the attachment of a variety of gas blocks from standard to adjustable. The 1:7 twist rate is designed to be used with heavier bullets like 62 grain and higher. However, it can still shoot lighter bullets, it just won’t be as consistently accurate. There is a large amount of 62 gr XM855 military surplus ammunition on the market for extremely low prices so you will be able to shoot with this barrel all day. And because the barrel extension has M4 cut feed ramps you don’t have to worry about reliability issues no matter what ammo you use whether steel cased or brass.

Spikes Tactical SB5 1605-ML chrome lined barrel

Recently purchased this barrel from Primary Arms. Fast shipping. Great people to deal with. Barrel was installed on an Anderson upper / lower build. Spikes bolt carrier assembly used. Diamondhead key-mod hand guard and Diamondhead sights. Great shooting rifle and very accurate. Just added a Vortex Spitfire 1x scope. Great prices on this sight right now. Very happy.
Spike's Tactical 1605 AR15 barrel

Recently took delivery of this Spike's Tactical 1605 barrel. I assembled my new build and checked headspace. Perfect ! I've shot 50 rounds of 77 grain Sierra hpbt over 23 grains of Varget and accuracy is superb. Open sights I consistently get 2" at 100 yards. I expect accuracy to get even better as I put more rounds down range. As always Primary Arms ships fast and supplies great components.
Better then expected

A new build i started decided on this barrel. It was a good decision. 3 shots at 100 yards sited in my Vortex 1-8 . Next shot was 400 yards steel. Hit it 15 times in a row 3" group I was seriously impressed.

Quality barrel with tight manufacturing requirements and excellent fit & finish

I chose it because it is a quality barrel but limited supply drove my choice of Spikes over Bravo Company etc. Spike's Tactical is now synonymous with home-built guns where they were once top-of-the-line boutique parts. Spikes Tactical barrels are mass-produced in the same factories as high-end barrels and their lower-priced competitors but with tighter manufacturing requirements and final-finishing than the "cheap" barrels. You pay for those tolerances, inspections, and final finishing. I've had burs in the feed ramps of cheap barrels but the fit and finish on this Spike's Tactical barrel was excellent.
