Not for side mounted use with an AR.

by -

I purchased this light-green laser for my AR pistol. I mounted the light on the left side of the fore guard. The set screws would not adjust enough to move the laser to the right enough to match up with the sight aim point, nor would it move high enough to match up. The 800 lumen light and the green laser are very bright. I have several of the TLR-1 HL lights and love them.

Exact lineup not necessary.

When using a laser for aiming, I think there are two useful strategies. The first is to assure that the laser beam is exactly parallel to the barrel. If you know the distance and angle between the two, you'll know where your shot will hit at close range. The other is to have the laser beam coincide with the bullet impact point at the maximum range you think you'll use it at. Then you'll know that the shot fall will be a minimum of that same distance, and be closer as you approach the maximum range you set. If you'll use the AR pistol for indoor self-defense, I'd still set for a crossing point at 25 yards. If you'll have outdoor use, 100 yards is probably the maximum at which you'd have reliable accuracy.

I'd be much more interested in how well the laser holds zero, and if it and the light hold up reliably after several hundred shots.

Very versatile light laser combo

I purchased this for an AR15 5.7×28 MM pistol I mounted it on the bottom in front of a 7 position Fab Defence fore grip very easy to reach and manipulate the controls with your thumb or your forefinger it has a quick disconnect very secure it also will work on any sidearm I have it is pricey but worth it.

JUST BUY AND SET IT UP, YOU'LL LOVE IT

I use an SL-100 green boresight laser in conjunction with my TLR2G. I first measure the distance from bore center to the center of the laser. At 20 feet I use that dimension to indicate where the bore center is, and the laser dot is. I adjust the TLR2HL G to that specification. As a reference, if the bore ctr is 1.75 inches from the laser dot on my sidearm, then at 20 feet, the dot on my SL-100 is 1.75 inches above the ctr of the dot from the TLR2HL-G. I recheck at 30 yards. In practice from point blank to 50 yards, where ever my green dot is, about 1.75 inches above it, will be my bullet impact.
