Diamondback Firearms 7.62x39 AR-15 Barrel - Carbine - Nitride - 10"

Bear Creek side charging upper and BCG, Anderson lower with PSA EPT trigger, KAK shockwave buffer tube kit with a Strike Industries brace/blade, C-products 28rd 7.62x39 mags.

The good:
It's a fairly accurate barrel (1" groups at 50 yds). No failures to feed, fire or eject out of multiple C-products mags with Tula 122gr FMJ.

The bad:
It's a jam-o-matic with the Tula 124gr 8M3 HPs. It looks like the bottom lip of the HP is getting caught on the feed ramp as it chambers. Presentation angle from the magazine looks good, so it appears to be a problem with how the ramp and the HP tip are interacting. It occurs primarily with the right feed ramp (viewed from the butt).

I haven't had the chance to try SPs or other brands of HPs . I'm bummed that it doesn't like the primary ammo I hoard for my AK. It's hard for me to recommend it if it doesn't feed everything that it's presented with. Maybe the problem lies elsewhere, but doesn't look like it. YMMV.

Barrel feed ramps needed modifying, which is/was a pain. 2.5moa @ 100yds with the cheap stuff, so not too upset about that. This was just a “fun” Corona quarantine project, so went with this cheap barrel, so kept my expectations realistic.

This is an update to my previous review.....

I have tried multiple FMJs and SPs with this Barrel and it feeds them fine. I continue to have a problem with HPs. I gave it 4 stars because in my previous review I gave it 2 stars. I actually believe it is a 3 star barrel ({2+4}/2 reviews). If it fed everything, I would give it a true 4 stars. If it fed everything and was 1 moa or better (it's 2 MOA for me), I'd give it 5 stars. Admittedly, the lack of 1MOA accuracy may be due to the ammo, not the barrel. YMMV.

apprehensive about this bbl due to the previous review. It went on sale & I couldn't resist. I've built a few ARs now & this went together w/o issues. Range day & the 1st 20 rds got FTFs on every shot! I dimpled the bbl for the gas block so probably no chance at a refund. I put my silencer on just to see how x39 sounds compared to 5.56 & couldn't believe it fed & fired every round! maybe the gas port is too small? I'll try w/a lighter buffer & or lower rate buffer spring & see if it will run w/o the silencer. Best part is that I got .5" 25 yard groups using a red dot firing wolf 124 gr HP & Wolf classic 124 gr FMJs. I'll try w/a magnified optic & farther distances next time. Really happy w/the purchase even if I can't get it to run w/o the silencer.

After reading all bad reviews of 7.62x39 AR's in general i was a bit skeptical but given the price of ammo lately and the frequency i like to hit the range i gave it a try.
The first trip to the range i had 3 or 4 failures and i believe was a combination of magazines and breaking in of the BCG.
After that has ate everything i feed it. Red army standard, wolf, tula, xmatch. I usually shoot from 250-300 rounds per trip sometimes twice a week.
This barrel is paired to a PSA lower, no brand upper, seekins presicion gas block, rise armaments RA-434 trigger, prime weaponry BCG, surefire warden flash hider. It has become my favorite pistol with no malfunctions.
Gas port not small as other reviews for the same caliber. Highly recommended.

Looks good so far. Machine work seems solid. Chamber doesn't show any marks or grooves. Feed ramps are smooth. Nitriding is dark and even. I must have lost two grooves in the mail, though. Specs say 6 groove button rifled, but even with the new math I still only count 4. No biggie if it shoots OK. We'll find out soon enough.

just received my barrel today. the description claims this is a 10 inch barrel. what i received was 9.5 inches. beware when ordering a specific length handguard. I can still make what I ordered work by installing the muzzle device before the handguard goes on but if I want to make a change in the future now I will have to remove my hanguard to swap a muzzle device not ideal. will review to quality and reliability after the build.
