Primary Arms 3X LER Red Dot Magnifier - Gen IV

Well built 3x magnifier at a bargain price! Put this on one of my AR's behind a PA/Holosun HG503g-ACSS and I'm quite impressed with the edge-to-edge clarity and brightness. A couple of X-Y turns to center the reticle and a twist of the focus ring to present a razor sharp image with a decent eye relief. Mounted on a flip-over, it's out of the way or back in play in just a couple of seconds. Bundle this with top-shelf customer service and lightning fast shipping andit's a no brainer!

It's Light Years ahead! I had a Gen III that I had little interest in for several reasons that I will not get into here. The Gen IV reset everything. The optic is now behind the mount and allows your red Dot to stay to the rear. The sight picture is brighter and more clear. The body is rubber armored but is a little wide and won't work with a flip sight that doesn't have a decent offset of the axis. I think the PA QD flip sight is a bit bulky but it works well where other won't clear the BUIS and/or charging handle and it offers lockdowns at 45 and 90 degrees. Please excuse previous negative comments and understand that this is a great piece of equipment.

Massive upgrade over the Gen 3.

Side by side comparison the Gen 4 is just better in every way. Glass is clearer than the Gen 3 and MUCH less fisheye distortion. The design of the magnifier also makes it easier to mount behind a dot on limited rail space (no flared from objective that sticks out from in front of a mount).
Don't listen to the ignorant reviewer that says the Gen 3 is better because he doesn't like the rubberized coating on the Gen 4. Fact that coating helps with durability. And handling the two side by side you can tell that the Gen 4 is better built.
Having now used both the Gen 4 is well worth the upgrade.

I originally ordered the PA 6x magnifier, I don’t know if it was the magnification, or if it was defective, but it distorted the dot on my Romeo. That being said, I decided to go with the 3x, and it’s perfect. Primary Arms customer service is excellent, and as always they stand behind their product! Thanks PA

This is my first magnifier ever. I checked out the Vortex VMX and their 3x Micro model and found that the eye relief on both was a lot shorter than on the Primary Arms. Also, I could never dish out the $200 to $300 for either of them. Might as well but a Prism scope or a SFP LPVO for that price.

All in all, I paid $140 for the magnifier and the PA flip to side mount, which is a great mount for the money. It's a super solid mount. You don't need to drop $99 bucks on a GG&G or AD mount.

The glass is pretty clear for a budget magnifier and it doesn't distort my red dot at all. If you have a red dot and want some magnification for those longer shots but have a limited budget, get this!

Been using a red dot since the mid 80's, never tried a doubler, man o man this 3 power rocks. Had to machine a custom mount for an Aimpoint-Pro and this magnifier to work together on a Saiga 308, its a fantastic set-up, best of both combat capable worlds, non mag red dot and a 3 power red dot. The 3 power really shines in close country, real crisp image shows details like nobody's business, be real hard to hide from this sight combo. Exactly what I was looking for. Probably do up another combat rifle with this magnifier, see how a Trijicn Relex with the 12 moa triangle, because the point on the reticle, and this 3X mag, should be a very precise.
The swing-away option is a game changer. The PA unit is rugged, rock solid. Be real difficult to damage it. Probably break the Picatinny rail first.
No idea about long term durability of the optic, but everything the guys here at PA have shipped me has been top shelf along with very fair pricing to boot.

The glass is clear and the weight is compatible. Excellent magnifier for the money.

I have two of these, one behind a red dot w/ACSS on top of a bullpup .223 and one behind a red dot on top of a 9mm PDW. For me these are a "must have"! Gives the .223 "legs", making it accurate/effective out to 400 yds. Gives similar results for the 9MM, making it accurate/effective out to 150 yds!

Not bad for the price

When this PA 3x LER is compared side by side to the top tier brands of 3x magnifiers, there is little to no meaningful difference. It is difficult to get away with that in other types of optics, LPVOs being an example, however a magnifier is a relatively simple unit. The specs speak for themselves. This PA 3x LER has comparable weight, eyebox/exit pupil, light transmission and in some cases better eye relief than magnifiers that cost 4-5 times as much. In my experience, this one has been just as durable and image quality is not any worse or better. If you want European/American made glass, get it, but do it knowing theres not much practical advantage in the category of 3x magnifiers.
