The Burris Optics Scout Rifle Scope is based on a design conceived by the legendary Col. Jeff Cooper. The scout rifle and scope concept was born out of the need for a general purpose “do-everything” rifle that is effective at short to medium ranges, rugged and reliable, and light enough to be carried all day. The Burris scout scope aims to accomplish those goals by providing low to medium magnification and placement well forward on the rifle. The forward placement offers extended eye relief and allows both eyes on target for fast acquisition and increased situational awareness while still having the ability to take accurate shots at longer ranges. So, the Burris 2-7 scout scope has the optimal magnification range for short to medium ranges, but is it rugged and reliable? It features double internal spring-tension system that allows the scope to hold zero through shock, recoil, and vibrations and a tough, 1-piece tube that contains precision-ground glass; multi-coated for glare resistance and maximum clarity. It also includes positive, steel-on-steel click adjustments that provide repeatability and is completely fog-proof and waterproof. Another aspect of the Burris Scout Scope is the Ballistic Plex Reticle; an extremely simple yet effective bullet drop compensation reticle that extends your capabilities on the hunt. Staying with the scout concept, the reticle is very minimal as to not clutter your sight picture allowing you to quickly aim and shoot at fast moving targets. However, you still have the capability to take shots out to 500 yards with the accurate MOA subtensions. This is a second focal plane scope, so the reticle will stay the same size throughout the magnification range and the reticle is designed to be accurate at the highest setting.
