The Comp Mag AR-15 Magazine Gen 3 is designed with California compliance in mind and comes with a bunch of features to make your life easier. It features a fixed design that cannot be removed unless the firearm is disassembled allowing you to keep all the features you want on your rifle. It features a side load mechanism that allows you to easily load rounds into the magazine. No permanent modification is required during installation, so you can easily convert it back to a standard magazine fed rifle if you plan on going to less restrictive states. It is constructed from crush resistant polymer and features a 17-7 stainless steel follower spring, locking plate, and is compatible with standard AR-15 lower receivers.

Perfect for the range, a great CA option

Living in CA, I recently decided to switch my rifle from featureless to featured to make it easier to handle. Enter the Compmag. This allows me to go plink at the range using my grip and adjustable stock, and should I leave the state, simply drop the mag with the included tool and use regular mags. I made one error when I initially started using it- I shoved the mag in with the bolt back and jammed the mag in too far, causing the bolt to fail to come forward. Again- instructions… I inserted the mag with the bolt forward and it seated properly and I’ve had no problems since.
Is it quick? Nope. I wouldn’t go to battle with a Compmag. However, should that need ever arise, being compliant will be the least of my worries. But for range time, training, it’s been great.
