FN America, an American-based subsidy of Belgium firearms manufacturer, FN Herstal, has established a legendary track record with its loyal customer base by offering some of the most innovative firearms and accessories for over thirty years. FN America is offering a semi-automatic version of the famous M249 PARA light machine gun developed initially by FN Herstal as the FN M249 PARA® and adopted by airborne, armored infantry, and CQC situations and has a barrel two inches shorter and a collapsible stock.
Features:
The FN America semi-automatic M249S PARA features a 16.1-inch barrel that's cold hammer-forged and chrome-lined, operating in a closed-bolt tradition. The PARA semi-automatic tactical rifle, firing a 5.56x45mm NATO round, can accept either a linked ammunition belt with an incredible 200 round capacity or be scaled down to a thirty round capacity magazine. Either way, this M249S PARA from FN American is a delight to fire at the range and will draw a crowd of onlookers the minute you drop the tripod and begin to shoot. The M249S PARA features a formed steel frame with a claw extractor design and sports a fixed, pivoting ejector and a side ejection of spent cases.
One of the many benefits of the M249S PARA is a removable heat shield and a curved trigger for improved finger position and fire control. The top of the M249S PARA sports a folding carry handle and is covered with an integrated MIL-STD-1913 mounting rail for accessories. The M249S semi-automatic airborne version of the government-issue FN M249 PARA weighs over sixteen pounds and will make for a heavy carry.
Still, FN America shaves a few ounces off with a polymer folding telescoping buttstock that includes a hydraulic recoil buffer system and non-slip butt plate. The semi-automatic PARA trigger pull weight is around eight to fifteen and a half pounds, which is in the range of a traditional AR15 trigger pull weight of approximately nine pounds. Although the trigger system of the M249S PARA has been reconfigured for semi-automatic action only, this replica of the lightweight machine gun used by airborne armored infantry the world over is an absolute joy to fire at the range. With a maximum belt-fed ammunition belt of two hundred rounds, it's highly likely your trigger finger will tire before you run out of ammunition.
