The Switch Mod 2 also utilizes a new proprietary locking mechanism that makes installation as easy as flipping a lever. Now you can easily swap rails between your rifles depending on what you are using it for. This clamping mechanism provides a tight lockup to the barrel nut without fear of it coming loose over time. Another well thought out feature of this handguard is the length. At 15.3”, it extends almost to the end of a 16” barrel but leaves just enough room for a direct thread or even QD suppressor. The minimal gap between suppressor and handguard offers a low profile and streamlined look. If you want a functional rail that you can easily swap between rifles, then the Fortis Switch Mod 2 is the rail for you.

Absolutely great. I'd buy again.

This specific build has a focus on weight.
PROS:
- This thing has an AMAZING fit.
- This rail is STURDY
- Along and surprisingly with sturdy this is extremely light. Mine weighs a little over 8oz which fits my weight window perfectly without feeling fragile.
- It just looks good, doesn't stand out but isn't super basic and is long enough to make 16" barrels look good.
- The release system is easy intuitive and grips perfectly.
CONS:
- Fortis has an odd black tone its CLOSE but if your OCD about matching colors, this tilts gray if only barely.
- The barrel nut works with the handguard to lock in place. It should make a distinctive "click" when locked correctly. Since its ALU don't force it. The problem is the ejection port bar on my specific upper was too long. This prevents the rail from seating flush on the side, which prevents the lock from engaging. In my case some dremeling was needed to shorten the rod.
