Bad QC

by -

Bought these for a 1 inch vortex 2-7 scope. Right away I noticed the treads for the rings were rough and wanting to cross thread. I was able to get them to finally seat however despite torquing to spec I noticed a gap between the lower ring and the top ring on both sets. This was very alarming but figured I’d try it anyway. I witnessed marked all the torxs heads on the rings and the mounting lugs with a silver sharpie marker. Went to the rang shooting a single shot 350 legend. After about 20 rounds I noticed a massive zero shift. I looked at my witness marks and noticed none of the torx heads moved on the rings or the mounting lungs to the pic rail. What did happen is the whole scope slide backwards through the rings. It appears like expected the gap in the rings led to the scope not being seated fully. I tried to fix it afterwards however could never get them to fully seat around the scope. I’d look else where for rings.

QC Not What You Would Expect For $

Shipped on 3/3/17. Preparing to lap the new low mount rings for an M1A Pic mount, I marked the ring halves to match back up later and removed the allen screws. One of the screws would not back out. I had to pull it out with the top half of the ring. The screw was not threaded! What was so odd is that it had the same diameter as the thread minor diameter so it just slipped into the the threaded base hole and would not rise when reversed. QC not where it should be? Had to scrounge up an Allen head screw that had the right spec to continue. Not worth sending back to PA. Discouraged.

From PA: I'm sorry these got past us. They have been a solid and reliable product. We will re-check our inventory. Please do contact us if you have any further problems. We would have been happy to rush you out replacement screws or other parts.
