The Ruger, Model 10/22, semi-auto carbine in .22 LR-caliber, is one of the best.
Sales from it's inception have exceeded over 5-million sold. It entered the market back in the late 1960's. As a former Army Special Forces Weapons Specialist, I deem it a great first rifle/carbine for young shooters, just beginning in shooting. It has a flawless (almost) semi-auto firing system and it is similar to a 'Garand' style action. Ruger's Mini-14 and Mini-Thirty followed this rifle/carbine and they are proven firearms.
In summing up, Ruger manufactures great firearms and one cannot go wrong with them.
