For example, while centerfire M&P pistols are striker fired, the M&P 22 Compact is hammer fired and single action only, with the hammer being hidden inside the rear of the slide area. The grip, controls, trigger pull, and sight picture all mimic the centerfire compact M&P pistols extremely well, making the M&P 22 Compact a great choice for a training substitute gun using affordable, light recoiling .22lr ammo. Weighing in at 15.3 ounces unloaded, it feels like a “real” gun, not a flimsy toy. The M&P 22 Compact comes with two 10-round magazines. The magazine release is reversible, the slide stop is ambidextrous, and a manual thumb safety on the left side of the frame adds an additional layer of safety to the internal and trigger safety systems.The M&P 22 Compact is plenty accurate thanks to its fixed barrel design. To take advantage of that accuracy, the rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation. This model does not have a threaded barrel but there is a version threaded for suppressors. Attaching silencers or other muzzle devices to the M&P 22 Compact will have no effect on its reliable performance.
