As the gas system blowback style is typically the standard for most AR-15 style rifles, an AR-15 gas block is essential in the operation of the rifle. Designed to direct the gas back into the gas tube through a port, the gas block directs the gases produced from the explosion of the cartridge back against the bolt carrier group to push it back thereby cycling another round into the chamber.

Probably more than some of us need or want to know about such a simple looking piece of equipment, right? Hey, a properly installed gas block improves the efficiency and can reduce wear and tear on your AR-15. Oh, and it’s easier on your shoulder as it also reduces recoil.

Good Fit.

by -

SOLGW markets these as having a snug fit on the gas block journal and shoulder. This was the case for the one I received. I installed it onto a Daniel Defense barrel after dimpling and it fit snug onto the barrel and right up against the shoulder. There is no gap for a handguard cap which is what they intended with this gas block. Overall fit and finish was good. Solid construction and no issues. Came with two knurled set screws. For reference, it appears that the set screw is spacing is .500" (if you intend to dimple twice) but always good to verify with the manufacturer.
