The Scout Squad M1A rifle has rapidly gained traction as a favorite for law enforcement agencies, hunters, and long-distance competitions. Springfield features a forward-mounted optical sight base that provides an excellent platform for an optic system of your choice. The M1A also features an 18-inch barrel with a parkerized finish and sports a 1:11 twist with six lands and grooves that provide excellent ballistic coefficient to the target when making longer-range shots. The M1A also has a two-stage military-style trigger system that requires a modest five to six-pound pull and stock and forend crafted from American walnut. Although you may want to immediately upgrade the M1A from Springfield Armory with an optical system, the M1A Scout Squad features a precise National Match .062-inch military post front sight and a rear military aperture with windage and elevation adjustability. The ten-round magazine holding .308 Winchester rounds meets most capacity restrictions that might exist where you live and feeds the cartridges flawlessly without jams or potential stovepiping. Coming to you at an affordable price, Springfield Armory again has created another firearm that is certain to gain the same historical legacy as many of their quality guns often do.

Great rifle

Compact and easy to carry. Shoots really good. Worth the money, easy to change our stocks.

All around a good experience and a great gun.

Fast easy ordering and shipping. I read all the information in both owners manuals that came with the gun. Following the manuals, it took 2 rounds to have the gun zeroed and is a tack driver. Low recoil and extreme accuracy is my takeaway.

I love this rifle....but....

The process of buying this through Primary Arms was as easy as it gets. I love shooting it, but it has been a test at times.
I saw poor accuracy with FGMM 168 giving me 2.5 MOA at best with 2-3 flyers EVERY mag. The op rod was hitting the scope mount (I had a scout scope on it), removing the scope mount saw immediate improvement. The rod was striking the scope mount, over 2mm of overlap, and the oprod guide was offset by 2-3 mm. The factory stock is also floppy and flexible. I ended up with a Delta 14 stock, and Ultimak scope mount and I am seeing much better accuracy.

I love the rifle but was surprised at the poor QC from Springfield given the MSRP of the rifle. If I was to do it over again I would have purchased the standard, even though I love the look and handling of the Scout.
