Spyderco’s Police Model was made at the request of law enforcement officers who needed a lightweight, easy-to-carry folding pocket knife that wouldn’t weigh them down on top of their regular gear. With cutting power still in mind, the Police Model was produced starting in the 1980s, and became one of the most popular folding knives ever produced by Spyderco. In the classic model, a satin-finished stainless steel handle includes chamfered edges for a comfortable hold when in use. Perfectly made with a smooth design, the handle won’t catch on clothes or gear due to the sleek stainless steel. Because the handle is structured as a solid foundation for the back lock mechanism, the Police Model’s blade includes the trademarked Round Hold for quick, easy, single-handed opening. The Boye Dent is included in the back lock mechanism to mitigate the risk of unintentional lock release while using the knife. The blade is VG-10 stainless steel that includes an unsharpened bevel for a spear-point blade. The four-position hourglass clip supports bot ha tip-up and tip-down carry so that either side of the body is comfortable. Because of this positioning, this knife can be used completely ambidextrously, giving the user additional flexibility of use.
