Soft Metal
by Eric -
Disappointed in Daniel Defense for this one. I built a rifle with an MFR rail in 2017. Recently decided to do a barrel swap and couldn’t find my original wrench. I ordered this one and got the nut off pretty easy thanks to anti seize on the threads. I found the manual online that specifies 55 ft lbs for installation. I made it to 41 ft lbs before the wrench popped off. I thought that was odd and proceeded to try to put the wrench back on, realizing that the wrench opened up and the teeth were deformed, mushroomed to one side and rounded on the other. I filed the teeth flat a bit on the mushroomed side and tapped the wrench with a hammer on my vise anvil to close it up a bit, fits perfectly again. Went to try to torque again and made it to 36 ft lbs before it did it again. I’m understand that they may want it to be softer metal to prevent damage to the barrel nut, but this is like untreated mild steel, I can’t even get to the their specs with their barrel nut wrench.
Very Disappointed In This Purchase

Purchased one of these to swap a barrel on my RIS II railed uppers.
The teeth on mine don’t fit the barrel nut properly so it won’t catch when I go to loosen the barrel nut.
So now I’m up a creek without a paddle until I get one that doesn’t have this problem.
I’d expect better QC and matching to parts from DD.
I was happy to speak to you on this issue and get that headed out to you.
Didnt work

This didnt fit around the teeth of my barrel nut what so ever. However it was a perfect match for the castle nut around the buffer tube.
Great wrench but why?

For the cost of a Daniel Defense AR they should include this wrench with the rifle. That said this was just the ticket to loosen the barrel nut of my DD4V5LW
