The rigid two-piece design is optimized for use with a standard M203 grenade launcher when the lower rail section is removed, a feature carried over directly from the SOCOM II program requirements. Despite that rigidity, the handguard weighs just 17.7 ounces, and the uninterrupted top rail gives a continuous mounting surface for optics and back-up sights without a gap at the receiver. The Flat Dark Earth finish is a clone-correct option for builders replicating specific SOCOM-pattern rifles finished in FDE.
