Ed Brown strips the pistol to its components, replaces critical parts with fully machined alternatives, performs a complete trigger job with EDM-manufactured components, and adds the integral compensator slide for reduced muzzle rise, delivering a competition-ready platform that is more refined in every respect than the factory original.

The Ed Brown Fueled Prodigy Comp is a single-action semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm Luger, built on the Springfield Armory Prodigy's polymer grip frame with a black Gen4 stainless steel compensated slide, 4.25-inch bull barrel, and Ed Brown's complete reliability and trigger package.

The compensated slide redirects muzzle gases upward through an integral port, reducing muzzle rise and enabling faster, more accurate follow-up shots compared to a standard Prodigy configuration. The Ed Brown trigger job — performed with EDM-manufactured trigger components — delivers a crisp, refined single-action break that is measurably better than the factory trigger. The complete reliability package includes Ed Brown's custom extractor, barrel throating, and factory test fire to verify function before shipping. All sharp edges on the slide, frame, thumb safeties, and rear sight are dehorned to protect holsters, clothing, and the shooter. The top of the slide is flattened and serrated to eliminate glare in bright conditions. The recessed barrel crown protects the muzzle's rifling from contact damage. The ambidextrous thumb safety and beavertail grip safety with Memory Groove provide familiar 1911 controls. Tritium front sight and black serrated rear provide a low-light-capable iron sight baseline. The Prodigy's AOS optics-ready slide accepts standard Agency Optic System plates for red dot mounting. The platform accepts all Springfield Prodigy, STI, and Staccato 2011 magazines. Two magazines are included: one 17-round flush-fit and one 20-round extended.
