Firefield Impact XL Reflex Sight

The Firefield Impact XL Reflex Sight is billed as an even more recoil resistant option in the reflex optic portfolio from Firefield. It is said to be built appropriately to handle modern sporting rifles, shotguns, and anything up to about .308 Winchester. The Firefield Impact XL features a 33mm x 24mm optical window coated in a red anti-reflective coating which improves diffusion issues and offers some durability and color fidelity to the heads-up display. Because it is a true heads up display there is unlimited eye relief. The red, illuminated multi-reticle features options with five different brightness levels and the following heads-up displays, including 5 MOA Red Dot, 3 MOA Red Dot with 50 MOA circle, 3 MOA dot with 50 MOA crosshair, and 3 MOA dot with 30 MOA circle and external crosshair. The image is Parallax free at 25 yards. There is a 1 MOA adjustment feature that allows up to 120 MOA for both windage and elevation, respectively. The universal mount is for a Picatinny or Weaver rail, and there is an option for a QD mount variant. Made of cast aluminum and polymer, this unit features a matte black finish and a specialty bezel that protects the optical window from the front. It is made to have shock resistance built-in so that it can handle heavier-recoiling modern sporting rifles including those that shoot the .308 Winchester.

This IP55-rated water-resistant unit utilizes a CR1632 battery and has decent battery life. It is also covered by a 3-year warranty and includes a neoprene cover and two adjustment tools in the package. The aesthetics mimic some of the market available options, but when it comes to price point vs. specification sheet and feature set, the Firefield Impact XL Reflex Sight with a red illuminated multi-reticle is punching well above its weight class, relative to market available competitors. Many competitors at two to three times the price point of the Firefield cannot compete with this loaded specification sheet. For those who are looking at the value-end of the spectrum, or want to determine if a heads up display attainable through a reflex sight is the type of optic they're looking for, this is an excellent option for a long rifle, modern sporting rifle or a shotgun given the recoil considerations and the robust build quality as well as the feature-set.
