In order to remedy this issue, the lower paddle protrudes further and is set at a 10 degree angle for a more even surface area. This puts the lower paddle and Ambi-Catch's paddle on different vertical planes. The ABC/R's top paddle is made larger with a 5 degree angle at the lower 50% and 10 degree angle at upper 50% can't. This makes it easier for the palm or thumb to access.
The notch immediately above the ABC/R's lower paddle provides tactile feedback to give the user reference for the lower paddle.
The rearward biased version is for left-handed users that use left index fingers to access the bolt catch paddles. On this version, the upper paddle is shifted to the butt stock end for better accessibility to the upper paddle.
Machined from billet 8620 alloy steel and treated with black Nitrided finish, the ABC/R is designed and manufactured in the USA.
Includes:
- Bolt catch roll pin
- Plunger
- Spring
Features:
- Texture: Serrated
- Upper Paddle Option: Rearward Biased
- Billet 8620 Alloy Steel
- Black Nitride Finish
Please note the ABC/R are not designed for use on 9mm receivers that use Colt 9mm magazines which require a Colt 9mm bolt catch, or Armalite AR10B receivers.
ABC/R v3 is incompatible with CMT based billet lower receivers. The horizontal "butterfly" extension requires the bolt catch bosses to be TDP spec with a radius in the corner.

Excellence in Every Aspect

FCD components are, in my opinion, some of the best components available for your AR-15.
The larger paddle, larger serrations and the slightly ramped overhang at the top provide more surface area and grip for your thumb. The ramp makes it harder for the thumb to slip off the paddle under stress, and the raised lip at the top serves as a repeatable indexing point for both thumb or trigger finger (depending on left or right hand operation).
The tail of the bolt catch is also angled up and flared out, protruding and giving the operator another repeatable index point, and the angle gives easier access and greater leverage, as well as providing more surface area for the operator's finger.
But perhaps the most important feature of this product is the fact that it exactly mirrors the shape of the bolt catch scallop on the VLTOR MUR-1. That's the only reason I bought this.
