It takes more than a fancy modern coating to improve upon the standard M16 bolt carrier group, but Forward Controls Design is up to the challenge. High-quality materials, thoughtful design improvements, and carefully selected components come together in their SBCG.

For upper receivers without a forward assist, the Dimpled surface ahead of the gas vents improves traction when pressing the bolt forward with a thumb. The mil-spec gas key is properly torqued and staked using Optimized Carrier Key Screws, which feature deeper, sharper knurling than traditional hardware for exceptional retention while still allowing the key to be removed if damaged.

Note: to ensure proper function, every SBCG goes through a 5-round live fire test by Sionics Weapon Systems. These bolt carrier groups ship as-is, having been slightly lubed and dirtied from the test firing.
