The ported barrel vents a portion of the gas upward through openings in the barrel and slide as the pistol fires. This pushes the muzzle down against the upward movement of recoil, which helps users keep the sights level and get back on target faster for follow-up shots. A flared magwell and a cutout at the front of the frame also give users more speed during reloads, when fractions of a second matter.
The magazine catch is reversible and the slide stop lever is ambidextrous, and both can be changed at user level to suit left- and right-handed users. The Glock Marksman Barrel and nDLC surface finish round out the upgrades over earlier designs, and front serrations on the slide add grip when racking it.
Glock's Safe Action system uses three passive, independently operating mechanical safeties that disengage in sequence as the trigger is pulled and automatically re-engage when it is released.
Glock has built its reputation on simple, durable pistols used by law enforcement and military organizations worldwide. The G17C V carries that design forward with refinements aimed at faster handling and better recoil control.
