357 Magnum from a lever-action carbine barrel generates significantly more velocity than from a revolver — enough to make the FTX's expansion system relevant at distances well beyond typical revolver hunting range. Hornady LEVERevolution 357 Magnum 140gr FTX leverages that barrel length advantage with a bullet designed to perform at lever-gun velocities.

From a 16" or 18" lever-action barrel, .357 Mag LEVERevolution produces enough velocity to extend ethical hunting range on deer-sized game well past 100 yards — a meaningful upgrade from traditional round-nose .357 lever loads. The 140gr FTX initiates reliable expansion across a wide range of terminal velocities, including the reduced velocities at extended defensive and hunting distances.

The flexible tip is tested to remain safe under the recoil forces of full-power 357 Magnum loads in tubular stacking configurations. .357 Magnum generates roughly double the muzzle energy of .38 Special from the same barrel length.
