The Iver Johnson Hawk Commander is a single-action semi-automatic pistol chambered in .45 ACP, built on a matte blued steel frame and forged matte blued steel slide with a 4.25-inch barrel, hand-fitted to individual tolerances at the factory.

The Series 70 internal geometry omits the firing pin block for a cleaner, lighter trigger pull straight from the factory. The flat serrated steel mainspring housing provides a positive grip reference at the heel. Front and rear angled serrations on the slide provide positive grip for all manipulations. The extended slide stop and extended thumb safety are sized for easy reach and positive actuation without breaking grip. The 3-hole trigger and skeleton hammer reduce reciprocating weight for faster lock time. The beavertail grip safety with memory bump ensures consistent activation with a high grip position.
