KAK Industry Bolt Catch Roll Pin Starter Punch - Walt’s Tool
Details
Details
Features:
- Built from stainless steel
- Makes installing bolt catch roll pins a breeze
- Gets the roll pin started so you can finish with a punch
- Prevents you from scratching your receiver
All roll pins are different before compressing. If they are a little loose in the tool, use a dab of grease in the pocket to hold it tight. If it is a little tight, don't worry, the hole in the lower is tighter. It will release once started in the lower. Once the pin is started use your normal punch to drive it home and get that build out to the range and broken in! Other alternative uses include: chopsticks, self-defense, or mine probing.

Great tool
by KE -
I thought I’d give this a try because the tiny gas tube pin can be a pain. The pin is loosely held in a hole at the end of the tool and exposes enough of the pin to get it started with a small tap. So much easier with this tool. It’s expensive for what you get, put it’s a solid piece of stainless. I’m glad it’s part of my kit.
Perfect for what it’s supposed to do.

Works like a champ. Only wish I would’ve bought this 3 builds ago.
It's THAT good!

Yeah, whoever Walt is, Nobel Prize. This is the best tool invented since the hose clamp removal tool. Maybe even best tool of all time. Allows for flawless installation with ease....as in 45 seconds. Not a single scratch. If you don't have one, get one. It's that good. It was very well thought out, down to the exact inside dimaeter of the starter punch which squeezes the roll pin. I mean, sure I love my kids, but this tool is SWEET! Shout out to the incomparable P.A. as always. 👍
Wont Work For Mil-Spec Pins
by Matt -
This tool will not allow you to drive a mil-spec length bolt catch roll pin in far enough to retain the bolt catch while using the starter punch. The Milspec roll pin 0.437" long, however some LPKs come with a more common less special order, supplied bolt catch roll pin that is a more standard size at 0.500" long. If your LPK has the longer 1/2" length bolt catch roll pin this starter punch will be totally adequate. its a simple fix on a belt sander to shorten the cup that holds the roll pin from 0.200" deep to about 0.125" deep, then it works perfect for the shorter 0.437" bolt catch roll pins. For the price this is a great tool even if it requires a simple modification, and without hesitation I would purchase another one should I have the need.
